How can I get that saloln smoothness at home, despite what cheap brands like Salon Selectives may claim??
99% of the time between salon visits, I hate my hair, I think it's incredibly dry and frizzled and split and damaged beyond belief. When I get to the salon the stylist invariably says my hair is very healthy and she just washes it and maybe smoothes on a tiny blob of serum and irons it and it's soft and silky smooth. As soon as I wash it, it's the same triangle of puffy frizz.
I've tried everything I can think of: flattening, using piles of silicon serum, boar bristle brushes, round brushes, gels, mousse, hairspray, special drug store "smoothing" styling products.. and nothing really does much. I can get a bit of straightening with silicon and a flatiron, but it's still really frizzy/puffy. Should I try buying a more expensive shampoo and conditioner? I've tried anything up to the 8-10 dollar range, but maybe I should be buying salon-quality 20+ dollar shampoo???
tips?

Well, if you like how your hair stylist did your hair why don't you ask them what products and the type of straightening iron they used on your hair and just purchase those. I don't mean to be rude, but wouldn't that make a lot more sence?
