Hi all,

I'm a guy in my mid 30s and my hairstylist has convinced me to let her do hilites and lowlights throughout my light brown hair. I get some natural hilites but its mostly pretty solid plain brown with little dimension. I also have a little gray starting to come through, and she tells me this will help to blend that in. I'm pretty adventurous with my hair, or at least I was when I was a little younger (perms, color, hilites ... you name it) and I do miss that, so I'm up for it, but am really looking for some input from you all as to what you think about guys doing hilites as they get a little more "mature" (although I still completely think of myself in my early 20s!) Also, my hair has a bit of a natural wave, is very thick and coarse ... lots of it! Right now my style is about 3 to 4 inches and really texturized (not permed texturized, just the cut), so I can wear it pretty messy.

Would appreciate any thoughts. My appoint is beginning of next week.

Thanks!
PT

All right.. interesting subject!

Guy to guy!

Weigh possibilities:

Your stylist says that the highlights will blend in grey.

Actually grey can be a good character. It depends on you. From what I learned, you liked fooling around with hair stuff when younger

Cool! What did it do? Did you feel what you wanted. Younger... Older? interesting... feelings are important in any hair style. Especially men!

Figure that out!

Highlights can never go wrong. The light plays with the colors and many women might find it nice. It will make you look younger!

Match you eye color to the highlights.

Go ahead. If you feel to young.. try a short beard. If it doesn't grow in.. it makes you look younger... So, shape it. It with give you character.

Add that.. and women will be confused and wondering?

I better shut up! I'm digging my own grave!

Check ya later!

You say you still feel young, and have plenty of hair, so take the opportunity to do whatever you like with it, while you've still got it to play with.

Thanks for the input! I'm getting nervous and excited, but still plan to go ahead. I do think that gray can look distinguished, but I guess that I'm still a little to vain and just don't feel old enough to be starting to gray!!!

Any other thoughts still appreciated!
