i remember a product that you could put in once a day, and over a couple weeks your hair would be lighter... I was wondering if there is a product like this to darken your hair? I need to do it over a period of time.

Amla makes hair darker, so you might want to do some research on Indian herbs.

According to a friend of mine who knows a lot about side effects of minerals, copper will darken hair over time. And the product you mentioned...you wouldn't be thinking of Sun-In, would you?
