it is used to add wispy layers to hair, or to cut the hair in a severe blunt line. also can be used to thin the hair by dragging it through so there is less bulk..i've unfortunately had this happen to me without realiseing...i like my hair nice and thick!

I had to practice razoring OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN in cosmetology class...because razoring NEVER turns out good unless in the hands of someone with a lot of experience(and you may want to know, many stylist dont focus so much on this technique)... Razor cuts tend to turn out crooked and uneven, because they are quite hard to maneuver.Sometimes, making it look like you cut your own hair with a butter knife ; ) And yes, they are used to make straight hair wispy and modernly choppy...You cannot use them on curly hair, because it will make it look fuzzy and the curls less defined.
