hi! I'm new to this forum and to hair extensions as well, but about a month ago I got a full head of fusion extensions done after a horrible haircut that left my hair at short dramatic uneven lengths all over my head. I didn't want to have to worry about the unattractive and frustrating process of growing it out so I got the extensions put in. however, I'm kind of freaking out... here are some of my problems:
1. my hair is naturally curly and the extensions are (slightly) wavy so when I straighten my hair I sometimes knick the bonds and I can feel the bonds melt a bit into my hair. this obviously cannot be good. how can I prevent this? and is this ruining my hair?
2. it's been a month since I got the extensions done and 60 strands of the extensions have shed with the bonds still attached to them. this seems like an excessive amount of shedding. some of them (a lot of them) my hair has been connected with it which worries me even more... my hair stylist assures me that everyone sheds differently, but I am now not going a day where I don't shed at least 5+.
3. I can tell that the bonds are already weakening because some of the bonds stick halfway out of my hair and then I start pulling at them because they're sticking out of my head.
this all seems like a mess, but honestly, I love having the length and volume. this is all just very new to me since I never had to keep up with such maintenance before. but ever since I cut my hair, I've been in a serious rut and I am waiting, waiting, waiting until my hair grows to an even length, which is why I got these extensions. but I don't think they are helping my normal hair. someone please help me with some advice!!!!!!
much appreciated.

It sounds to me like your extensions coming out with chunks of your real hair is because who ever applied the bond to your hair didn't put enough of your real hair to support the bond and the length of the extension. The length and weight of the extension can cause to much stress on your real hair eventually causing it to break off. As for straightening i find it easier to separate the hair in layers and kind of feel where the bonds end knowing that will allow you to place the straightner closer to the end of the bond getting the curl out but also missing the bond. Heating that bond back up will cause it to melt on to other parts of your hair you dont want it to causing matting. If your hair is colored a lot of just thin and a little more fragile that most hair I would suggest not using a hot method but something where you can distribute the weight like tape that works rally well and less stress on your real hair. Hope this helps good luck and you can always put up a pic of where your having the most trouble on your head. Anyways shedding that many in a month isn't normal to me. It would suggest install done poorly or your hair cant support it. some shedding is normal but i would say only a couple a month.

thanks for your help. I'm actually going to see my stylist on Monday. I'm thinking about taking them out because I already have 60+ strands that have shed within this month. I'm also starting to see bald spots as well as my hair breaking off. I don't want to them out because I love having the long hair but it's obvious it's doing some serious damage to my hair. :( I'm kind of freaking out. thank you for your advice though!!!

Hope I could help. Bottom line is i just don't think your install was put in correctly. As well that method isn't for you. If tape isn't something you would want to try you can always do clip ins where them when you want and for however long. Honestly cuts down the style process to considering you dont have to blow dry it and traighten it every time lol. Dont give up there is a method for every one. xoxo

Clip in and glue in human hair extensions http://www.xtras-online.co.uk/hair-extensions/ - are the best hair extensions which you can do yourself of your own. But you can use all the hair extensions types.
