ok, last time i went to this hair salon, and this hairdresser cut this girl's hair. He got a pair of silver scissors, and from the middle of the back of her head, he slid, ran, the scissors, down. What i saw was that he didn't really snipe it, and it hair just fell off. Anway, is this technique called 'slide cutting' and what kind of scissors would produce this effect?
thanks

I came across this link and thought it might be helpful... I'm not sure if what you are talking about is called slide cutting, but if it is this link might be helpful. http://www.sharplinescissors.com/slide.html

I recently saw a video that may have been this technique. It really looked odd because the stylist didn't ever close the scissors. In fact it didn't really look like  he was doing anything but running the scissors through the hair, but he must have been doing something. I think this is the difference between a high priced stylist and a noob. It's certainly not for amateurs.

I agree it does take a steady hand and sharp shears! Not to mention knowledge.!!
