I hope Jen doesn't go short.  And it has nothing to do with liking long or short hair.  Whether you like it or not, short hair on many women can make them look older.  And I mean that from teenagers who go short to older women.  Has nothing to do with the aesthetics of whether or not you prefer short hair or if the woman can wear it, it can just age some women.

Think, for example, of Katie Couric when she cut her hair short again and then grew it back out.  Go check out Wireimage if you like.  I'll wait. Smile

And it's not always true.  For example, Charlize Theron doesn't really look significantly older with short hair, though I think she looked a bit younger with it long.  Ditto with Kellie Pickler.

That said, however, I think Jen has hit that window that, if she did go short, she'd suddenly appear to age 5-10 years.  Currently, she's 44 and looks like she's in her mid to late 30s.  If she goes short - non bob-short, but short short - she'd instantly look older.  Again, that's regardless of how well she could pull off a short style.

Just my humble opinion...though I'm right. Wink

As usual,
JF

I'm always upfront about preferring short hair, but I don't think it'd work at all for Jen -- especially if she tried something like Miley. Actually, though, that might be worth it for the comic value, but beyond that... no. Maybe 15 years ago or so...

Unlike JF, I don't think it automatically ages a woman (though that is definitely true in some cases) -- the style would come into play and, of course, the woman herself. Sometimes it can take years off by giving them a spunkier look. Other times, it adds decades by looking helmet-like.

But, more to my point -- For Jen's sake, I hope she doesn't try to jump on this bandwagon.

on Friends she had that shortish bob, and at first i didn't like it, 'cause it was a bit severe, but grew to like it....but i don't think she should go real short, IMHO, lol

I thought her shortish bob on friends was awesome - best she has looked, okay  I did like the Rachel cut also.

I agree with JF that short hair can make some women look older but I don't think Jennifer is one of them.  Here she is recently imitating Barbra Streisand

This one was not too long ago either

and even with a fake short haircut, she still looks young to me

Celeb stylist Chris McMillan owes Miley Cyrus a refund.

I think she looks hot in the flattop, not any older.

A refund and a court settlement. And, anyone who gives Jen a flattop should be imprisoned for no less time than it takes for it to grow back. Angry

P.S. For the first time since the MIley dude cut, I actually saw  someone who had copied the style, with the same degree of success, I might add. Wink

Well of course Miley should seek some recourse for the travesty inflicted upon her without her consent. Isn't it obvious she really does hate how it looks? Jeez......

I suggested a refund, makeitshort, but if there's legal action, let's make it a class action lawsuit for all of us who have sustained eye damage from catching a glimpse of the "dude cut," as Bob S called it! Thumbs%20Up

Saw that too Michael.

I had a thought that the long/short, older/younger debate might not be as black and white as all that.

Friends ended 10 years ago, Jen's in her 40s and aging out of playing the single fun girl in romantic comedies.

Maybe a shorter haircut at this point wouldn't exactly make her look "older," but instead more mature, substantial and sophisticated, less cutesy, which might better fit her current age and the types of roles she's likely to encounter for the next several years.

Then maybe she can call Courtney Cox and suggest some bangs?

I did also; pretty funny.  Elizabeth Banks did the same thing.
