Has anyone else had trouble loading CHT pages in last two months?

Suddenly, CHT page freezes, then crashes my browser, and I end up rebooting my whole computer. Occasionally crashes my iPad browser too.

This is why I haven't posted nearly at all recently. Hasn't ever happened to me in decade-plus of regular visits before this, using same platforms, and isn't happening when I load any other website pages.

Is there new code, new animated or pop-up ads?

I'm using Safari on a MacBook Pro running OS 10.7.

All help appreciated!

I use same computer and OS and have had absolutely no problems. Maybe your ISP?

For a while now, I've had issues with scripts being run by the site ads hanging up and having to stop them to allow the browser to continue.  Couple of weeks ago it stopped, but this week it has shown up again.

That's probably what's crashing your browser since it can have different effect depending on the browser and OS - type and version - that you are running.

Karen/Jeff?  Any ideas on this?

Sounds like this may be a common problem, one related to new banner ad scripts. Any help?

Hi...thanks for the feedback.

I have reported this to Jeff & Michael as well as to our advertisers.  They are looking into it.  I have also experienced this problem sporadically in the past.

My apologizes for any inconvenience.  I just wanted to let you know I saw the comments and did ask the guys to try and figure out what is happening.

Thanks for all your ongoing support.

It causes my Safari browser cursor to spin for 30-45 seconds and stops the browser, but then works.

Kills my chrome browser first time. Then after a restart will load. Definitely a problem with the scripts.

Hi Karen -

Thanks for noting the problem and passing it along, I appreciate it.

I just installed Mac OS 10.8 Mountain Lion, hoping it might remedy the problem. Same result; loading the site with Safari slows down Safari, then my whole Mac, to an almost-frozen level, forcing a restart.

I was able to load the site successfully with Firefox (which I'm using now) so maybe it's a Safari-centric problem. However, I do all my web browsing on Safari, so opening and using a different browser just for this board would severely limit how much I visit, read and comment on this board.

I agree with Kathrym that it's probably an issue with loading and running scripts, and probably new scripts from the past couple of months.

I hope you can sort it out -- I miss contributing to these discussions! :-)

Thanks Karen -

Strange: I use Safari and Mac and never once had a problem.
