Ok so is the rest of your hair still long? If some of your hair is 2 inches long, how are you getting it to go back? Does your hair grow fast? I suggest waiting untill the really short hair grows out and then cutting it to your shoulders. What are you doing to make your hair fried? If your hair`s curly, don`t try straightening it. This seriously damages your hair. Curly hair is really in. Try putting gel in it. The crunchy hair thing is really cute. No matter what, dont blow dry,straighten,use a curling iron or dye. If your hair is already damaged these will make it worse. I suggest buying a strong conditioner at a beauty salon,(ask a hair stylist for adviceon what to buy), and using it a few times a week.
