my stylist said that i could use a but of lemon jucie and go out in the sun and it should give me some natural highlights but she said not to do it often because it dries up the hair. how should i apply the lemon juice?

Matters how you want your highlights. Do you want an overall highlighting or just around your face.... just put some in your hand and work in then comb it. Something that will help with the drying factor is to mix it with some conditioner and apply then bake in the sun. There are some products out there - the maker of Sheer Blonde does a lemon type gel that might be easier to apply. I think it is called Bits of Lemon. How much it dries the hair out I think depends on your hair type and how much you condition it. My wife has done the lemon thing frequently without harmful effects.
