Hi, you guys probably don't remember me, but I introduced myself back in ummmm...June, I think, posted a few times, and I've just been lurking ever since. I'm generally not a big forum person unless I have a question. And my hair is still so short, I feel like I don't really belong here yet :/ Anyways, just to refresh your memories, I'm a 23 y/o canadian guy and have been 'patiently' growing out my hair again. (why did I ever cut it in the first place? lol). But yeah, so I have a question. I quit smoking a while ago, and oddly enough my major motivation was the health of my hair lol Yes, hair worries took precedence over cancer lol I figured I'm too young for cancer anyways hehehe. But anyways, I was just wondering, how exactly will quitting smoking improve my hair? I know it'll make a difference, I'm just not sure how. My hair is just below my ear lobes now, so I'm making good progress! I've got more to say, but I'll save it for another post...talk to ya soon!

hello! I actually can't reply to your question, but I wanted to say that I don't have long hair yet either (especially compared to everyone here). I still think it's a great place to stay inspired and to get tips on how to take care of and grow our hair longer. congrats on quitting smoking, no matter what reason it was.

Hey Coyote, thanks for stopping by.
To answer your question... It is my understanding that smoking leads to constricted veins & arteries (and thus capillaries too), lowering blood flow to all parts of your body, including the capillaries that feed the follicles on your scalp. Smoking (equivalent to ingesting large quantities of heavily polluted air) taxes your body's immune system, making you weaker and less resistant to fighting a variety of diseases.
I've grown my hair past my knees and I don't smoke. Correlation or coincidence? You be the judge.

Congratulations on having the strength to quit Coyote. That's really commendable and I admire that. I hope you are enjoying your new healthier, smoke-free life!
