I`m growing my hair long. Right now it is at my shoulders. I want it down to my waist. I had to have it cut 1 1/2 inches today because it started to get nasty white split ends that caused the hair to split and run up the full shaft of the hair. I try and wash it every 2-3 days using head and shousders I have icky dandruff. I condition it very rarley 4xs a month use a wide tooth comb when it`s wet. wear it in a scruncie most of the day and use a boars hair bristle brush at night. and never use hairspray mouse ect. I dont perm it or color it and I`m growing out my bangs they are a ouch past my nose and can almost go behind my ears. I`m just about ready to hack it all off but I know I will cry for weeks. I have very shiny elastic dark hair but I want it to stop breaking. I`m half native american and I have the hair not to thick but heavy fine and thicker so it`s not full. Please give advice

hair will split for a lack of moisture.

try oiling your ends with jojoba

since i make sure to oil my ends and have changed a couple other things during hair care, I have no more breakage/splits

i have fine but thick long hair and i highlight mine every 4-6 months and use clairol natural instincts to color between highlights.

Hello,

I have very thin hair that easily gets oily (or greasy) down to my shoulder-blades. So I thought I have to wash it every day.

To avoid damaging the hair through too much shampoo I thinn it with a lot of water and I use always conditioner because conditioner is helpful for combing, and I only use a wide toothed hard rubber saw cut comb.

This is important because it has rounded teeth.

Currently I mix conditioner with Jojoba oil to avoid this dry ends that are the reason for split ends, and it seems to help.

I recognized that even this thinned shampoo is too much and so I only use it every other day or every third day and instead of it fluid soap for hair washing. Another problem for hair damages can be friction with clothes or pillows in the nigth, I heard that satin pillows could help.

I think it is better to cut off damaged hair individually, because otherwise too much healthy hair will be lost.

1 and 1/2 inch has an equivalence in 3 months hair growing.

Sorry, more I can not say. I am in an experimental state what should be best for my hair and how to avoid hair loss.
