Ah, so now it makes sense. The above is step one of Katy bleaching out her brunette color (again) so she can go platinum (again). Gotta get rid of the dark color, which turns her hair orange, and bleach out the natural blonde/brown roots. Which gives the two tone above and requires some time for the hair to recover a bit before bleaching the rest of the way to platinum. And explains the wig at the Grammys. Apparently she was inspired by ScarJo. In deference to my message board comrades that are enraptured by short hair in any for, I won't say that it looks awful. I will say that both Katy and ScarJo have had VASTLY more flattering hairstyles, be those short or long. As an aside, if I was in charge - and really, shouldn't I be? - I'd place a moratorium on this haircut. With a single exception for P!nk.
