Might be interesting to consider that though this may be seen as WR's iconic look, she only had it for about 3 years between 1997 Alien, Girl Interrupted and Autumn in New York. By 2000 she was already growing it out. From 1987-1997 it was mostly long though getting progressively shorter between all the period dramas. ------------- jug jug to dirty ears |

Winona unveiled her iconic pixie cut with the release of "Reality Bites" in February 1994. Her pixie was likely inspiration not only because it was a great look, but because the film reflected what many women felt they were going through at the time. She had a version of the pixie when she made "How to Make an American Quilt" and "Alien: Resurrection," but her pixie in 1999's "Girl, Interrupted" was one that had many women again running to their hairdresser. She sported it for the last time on film in "Autumn in New York" but she had it so long that she'll always be identified by it. |

Depends how you define pixie...like I said she started getting shorter in the later part of the decade 1987-1997.  Reality Bites--and that's not really a pixie for me.   It was already longer in Boys and How to Make An American Quilt in 1996...before the big chop in 1997. It was also in that later period that most of the period dramas occurred--so the longer wigs shape my memory of the time. ------------- jug jug to dirty ears |
