Most good hair care products bear warning labels to the effect of, "Quality cannot be assured unless purchased in a licensed salon" or "For professional use only."My local supermarket carries such products--some brands regularly, others sporadically or only once--and sells them for less than the salons. The products always seem fine to me.Recently I was getting my eyelashes dyed in a salon--don't ask--and mentioned that I was out of Aveda Black Malva conditioner. The stylist tried to sell me a bottle for $20. I declined politely, explaining that it was cheaper at Shop Rite. She became very huffy and said she was going to report them to Aveda, because they're not allowed to sell the line. (I've also seen Sebastian, Paul Mitchell, and Nexxus in this same store.)What's the real deal?Ally
