I'm growing my hair seriously for the first time (used to be a die-hard bob girl) and hairsticks look rather cool but I have no idea how to use them. Yeah, I'm dumb. Can anyone offer any advice?

I just put my hair up in a bun, and weave the sticks in and out until I get to the other side of the bun, and thenI do the other and have it cross.

It doesn't work too well though, I may not be doing it right though!

Good luck with growing out your hair!

1.Put your hair in a pony.
2.Then either braid or twist, twist your tail into a waterspout looking thing, then wrap into a bun.
3.Take your first hairstick, and if your hair is a clock, put in your bun at about two o'clock with the top of the hairstick pointing AWAY from your head.
4.Then give it a little twist while bringing the hairstick up next to your head, and weave the stick in and out of your bun.
5.Do the second stick the same way, starting at nine or twelve.
6.When you get really good at winding your hair tightly or putting your stick in tightly, you can get by with just one stick!
Hope this helps!!

I dont know, my hair slips out no matter what. The only time it holds with sticks is when my hair has been precurled or waved. If my hair is as it is naturaly (straight) then it just slips!

Hi,

I always "cheat" by either putting my hairsticks in while my hair is damp, which helps them hold better OR I do as Karrinne suggests above and will put my hair into a braid or ponytail to help them stay. I use a lot of the Condor Clips and other types of clips when I want a bun w/out my hair being wet or braiding it first.

Best wishes,
Karen

Hi Silvertine!

Welcome to our friendly long hair community. Good to hear you are joining our ranks.

Laine, I love your new signature picture! Your hair is really long and lovely!

Sorry, I can't really be of any assistance here... as I don't use hairsticks... but the advice given here seems very helpful.
