What Color is your hair now, and do you like it?
I have dark brown hair with a few natural highlights. I really like my color now, but that wasn't always the case.
Has it ever been any other color?
In high school I went through a couple phases. First was the wild color phase when I did red, blue, and even green streaks through my hair at different times. Not always a pretty sight! Then I had the strange urge for a long time to be blonde, so I bleached it almost a platinum color. I don't know what I was thinking, but I'm glad I got that out of my system. Now that I've traveled around the world and have explored other cultures, I actually appreciate my dark hair a lot.
If you could change your color, what would you change it too?
I love the look of exotic shiny black hair (especially on longer hair), so I've thought about dying my hair darker. It seems like too much of a hassle though, so I think I'll just stick to my natural color.

1: Color now, and do I like it. A: It's a natural color, as in "nature calls"... And no, I do not like it.
2: Has it been any other color? A: Not yet, it will change though in May for grey, I'm doing it for sure. I wouldn't mind black or white, but the colors of the rainbow do not interest me, nor does brown, it isn't even part of a rainbow.
3's been answered.

What Color is your hair now, and do you like it?
My hair is a medium dark brown with red and gold highlights. Sometimes my hair looks like a dark auburn but it all depends on who you ask. I rather think my hair is a dark auburn but, for example, my bf says my hair is just brown... Everyone seems to agree however that there are golden/coppery highlights and shines to it.
Has it ever been any other color?
When i was born i started out with blond hair. My dad has my hair color (or had) and when he was born he had strawberry blond curls. My mom naturaly has a lighty auburned blond color and my sister has dirty blond hair...So I guess I get the reddish highlights from mom and dad. My sister dyes her hair all sorts of shades from black to cherry. My mom dyes her hair and no matter what shade of brown or blond she uses her hair ends up woith a red shine. She hates it! She doesnt want any red in her hair at all but the only colors that dont get reddish on her are very ash blond colors.
If you could change your color, what would you change it too?
Well, Im happy with my coloring...I wouldnt mind if the red in it would show up more. In a normaly lit room my hair looks more brown than red and the red only really can usualy only be seen in sunlight or in very bright rooms.

1. It is a natural medium brown that's actually fairly similar to Erinlynn's.
2. When I was a small child my hair was jet black and it actually got lighter as I got older. I've used temporary dyes/hair mascaras, usually in golds and coppers, but nothing permanent or even semi-permanent.
3. If it were a different color I'd probably go for a red of some sort.
------------- Monica: Isn't there any way that you could look at this as flattering? I mean, she's doing this to be more like you. Rachel: Well, then, couldn't she have just copied my haircut?

I am dark blond. It has some gold deep inside.
I don´t really want any other color, but how about when it starts to go grey? I´m 38 this year, and most of my friends are starting to go grey. My sister, who is three years younger than me, is coloring over her greys. I have not seen any yet, but how does one gracefully embrace whitening? I´d like to be prepared.

Viktoria, you hair doesnt look blond from the picture =) it looks golden brown.
I wish people would just go grey. and i wish grey hair was looked on more favoriably. After all in some cultures age is revered. Its just stupid media and McWorld society that puts down ageing so much.

What Color is your hair now, and do you like it?
IMy hair is blond. Dark blond and it lightens in the summer. Its an okay color but I like brown and black much better. If i dyed my hair it would look silly on me with my fair features however, so my hair remains blond.
Has it ever been any other color?
Yes, it was green one summer that I spent an excessive amount of time in a pool.
If you could change your color, what would you change it to? I would have dark brown hair. In between true black and regualr brown. did that make sence?

What Color is your hair now, and do you like it? My hair is grey. Black:White ratio is 60:40
Has it ever been any other color? Black originally and had a maroon tint in my teens.
If you could change your color, what would you change it too? White. It's getting there...I just wish the process would speed up. At this rate I should be 50% white in 5 years .

Hi Watereed, welcome to the board!
And welcome back Uzma!! It's great to "see" you here again.
Fun poll, Jenna! Thanks for starting the thread...
What Color is your hair now, and do you like it? My haircolor depends on the lighting. Outdoors in the sunshine it appears to be golden blond. Indoors it appears to be very dark blond.
Do I like it? Uh huh...
Has it ever been any other color? I have never colored it. It has gradually darkened since my childhood. When I was 9 it was almost white-blond.
If you could change your color, what would you change it too? I could change it, I suppose, but I have no interest in doing so. I like it just the way it is.

What Color is your hair now, and do you like it? My hair is my natural colour now which is black
Has it ever been any other color? I've had green, white, purple, blue and orange streaks (not all at the same time lol)
If you could change your color, what would you change it too? I'd love black with a dark green tinge that would be cool.

I wear my hair 100% naturally. Its color borders between dark blonde and light brown. I do like it and don't really care about its exact nuance. I would not change it to any color, it's a non-issue for me.

The same way one embraces the fall of snow, icicles that form under tree banches, moon-lit nights, frosted leaves and the streaks of silver in an oyster shell.....
In other words, see the beauty in it, rather than judge it with the contracted eye of cultural ageism.
Dave - your golden locks sound utterly magnificent. I wish I could have seen your age 9 white-blond hair .

What Color is your hair now, and do you like it? My hair is a mid brown fading by the sun to a light gingery brown on the ends. It's not noticable until a bun or something brings the colours together. That actually looks quite cool
Has it ever been any other color? When I was born my hair was black, but the only way I've changed the colour is with hair mascara, which washed out, when I used copper, purple and red.
If you could change your color, what would you change it too? Blue-black. I don't want to wreck my hair, and I wouldn't want it to be permanent- nothing stronger than semi. Any ideas?

That's an awesome idea enfys. Maybe you could look for one of those fun colors that are supposed to wash out after a day. I've never tried it, but it seems pretty easy.

What Color is your hair now, and do you like it?
Medium brown with reddish and golden highlights.
Has it ever been any other color?
Not really. I've had lighter highlights, but I always keep my natural brown color.
If you could change your color, what would you change it to?
I like the extremes: jet black and platinum blonde. I wouldn't change to either, though, because I'd look really bad.

I've been thinking of colouring it naturally with henna, I bought black henna last night at an organic grocers, that might turn up blue black , they had another henna based green but it wouldn't show up on my hair, >_< but I'm trying the black henna on the weekend

You know, ErinLynn, it can look just about any kind of way on a photo. But brown, no way. However, I have noticed there are differences of opinion about what dark blond really is. Heck if I know, it´s what it says in my passport, and my brown haired sister is way different.
Uzma, your poetry makes me long for grey tresses! I will cut your words out and put them up on my wall!

Hello All,
I am new here, but I could not resist this thread.
My natural color
Undefinable, it all depends on lighting and air. Currently my color is ... red?... but it changes to a dirty brown or a very light blonde under the right circumstances. Once my sister told me that (in the ligt of quicksilver lamps) my hair looked a very dark grey.
Previous colors
I never color my hair, but I started out light blonde as a small child, then I darkened to a rich copper-red as I was 16, and now (25) it seems to get lighter again. At least, it reacts more to external events such as humidity and lighting. The other explanation could be that I did not notice before.
Dyeing
I do not use colors with the exception of silver or grey spray-on color for LARP where I play an old lady of 80 years. And I was very nervous the first time I used this stuff. Currently my little sister uses the named grey spray for a "nifty" highlight on her chin-length bangs. One cannot argue about taste.
I would never change my hair color permanently. Pity is that the only spay-on color available in Germany is in signal colors (red, yellow, blue, silver, glitter...). I would love to experient with hair-graffity.
Greetings,
Thea
Schwabach, Germany

Hi Thea, welcome to the board!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on haircolor. I also seem to have the "what color is my hair?" syndrome (not that that's a bad thing).
Feel free to tell us more about your hair, and/or bring up any other long-hair related subject for conversation... [nudge]

What Color is your hair now, and do you like it?
It ranges from dark to light golden brown, intermixed throughout on its own from the sun and age. A few greys are popping up here and there, the longest are about 6" long now.
Has it ever been any other color?
When I was a competitive swimmer, it was significantly lighter than it is now. For 12 years I didn't know what my natural color was. It was a light golden brown with golden blond highlights.
If you could change your color, what would you change it too?
Natural color: golden honey brown, like the color of clover honey. Unnatural color: Vibrant Electric Purple, with bright lime green and royal blue stripes (imagine that on thigh-length hair!).
But, I'm never going to do either of those.. My hair is healthiest in its natural state, and I've worked far too hard to get it this healthy. I have more fun watching others do wacky stuff with their hair.

1. My current hair color is my natural color, which is black. I love it! =)
2. It has been brown before. It was actually highlights, but it made all my hair look brown.
3. If I could change the color, I think I'd like to try a dark shade of burgandy or blue.

My hair was a yellow blonde as a kid and in my teens it turned to medium ash brown.
I guess that makes me both natural blonde and brown.
As far as a preference, I don't really have one. It's still on my head at just shy of 28 so for now any color will do.

I'am curious Viktoria...what exactly will you do when those signs of wisdom (grey hairs) start approaching?
