I need HELP!! My hair is really long (down to my butt cheeks) and I have NO idea what to do with it. I am the mommy of two small children (21 months and 7 weeks) so I don't have time to do anything fancy, but would like to do something other than wear it back in a ponytail all of the time. And cutting it is out of the question since my husband loves it (his is really long too)......

Does anyone out there have any suggestions?? I have looked on the web for suggestions but there doesn't seem to be a lot for people with hair my length.

Please help!!!!

My hair is nowhere near as long as yours but you could do lots of different things like braids (regular and french), buns, braided buns, rope braids. And since your husband loves your hair so much hopefully he could style your hair for you as I'm sure it could be difficult for you to style your own hair (in braids especially) - difficult to reach back behind your head and braid that much hair. My daughters have long hair and I bought a book called "Hair - A book of braiding and styles" by Anne Akers Johnson and it was very helpful as far as giving me lots of different ideas for what to do with their long hair as well as instructions for how to achieve the hairstyles. There are lots of books out that are similar to this one. You might check your local library too. Good luck!

Caramia has given a lot of great suggestions. I might add, consider getting a pair of hairsticks as a way to anchor the hair buns to your head. Regular braids are easy -- I know -- I wear one every day, and my hair is even longer than yours. Believe it or not.

Thanks.....just got a pair of hair sticks. They seem to work great! My husband helping with my hair though is out of the question....last time he tried to braid it was more knotted than braided. He has hair mid-back but he just wears it in a ponytail.

Congrats on your long hair....I love mine long! I used to have chin length until I met my husband....he made me try growing it out and I am glad that I did.....although I am thinking about getting it highlighted next time I get a trim....could use the color.

Cool! Glad to hear the hairsticks are working well for you.

Re: your hub, practice makes perfect. If he's willing to learn, it might be worthwhile to encourage him to keep trying.

That was sweet of you being willing to grow your hair long for him and it's good to hear that you love having long hair now.

Tell us, what beautiful color it is now?

Have you ever tried any of those Topsy Tail styles?

Where you take a ponytail by the end and bring it up and then feed the end downward through a gap in between your head and the tail holder? They had a tool for that on TV but you can make one out of a coat hanger or get some string and a stick or pencil and fasten a loop of string to the stick with a rubber band or something. If you get a big enough stick you could drill a hole and feed the string through instead of the rubber band.

That Anne Akers Johnson book that was mentioned has some nice styles that use this technique. I have the book, among others.
