Just a thought. I personally do relax / straighten my hair. I have wavy / curly hair and I get it relaxed / straightened every now and again. I find it a lot easier to style and it looks (of course) a lot better. People I know have seen me with my natural wavy/curly hair and then with dead straight hair but they never noticed! I always get complements on it. So, how many of you guys relax / straighten your hair and would you admit it? And to the ones that don’t, what do you think? Cheers.

I think you're on your own on this one, Orc.
Either no guy here straightens their hair - or they do but won't admit it.
Personally, I think it's great that you have found a way (& products) to manage your hair that works for you, without dependency on salons.

Hello uzma, Thanks for that. I am sure and know that there are many guys on this board that relax their hair. I have read a lot of posts from guys asking about the relaxing process. Anyhow, I just wanted to see how every one deal with it. Oh well, I am on my own here then. I have always be accused/known of being strange and unusual (it depends on how you look at it). Now that makes it true not that I mind. It is better than being boring or average I will think of another post. Thanks again uzma.

Hi Orc
There is nothing strange or unusual about being honest, open and wanting to understand things through sharing with others.
YOU possess these excellent qualities. You aren't weird - just extra cool!!!
Don't put yourself down and don't allow anyone else to do so either.
Take care

You're not alone on this, Orc! I proudly relax my hair knowing it will help get the style I want. When people ask me I tell them I straighten it. I don't see no shame in wanting to relax ur hair if you're a guy.

Thanks guys. I almost regretted posting it but I was keen to see who comes out :o) Only two people know I relax my hair and the rest have no idea :o) I am everyday with a new hair do and since my hair is a mixture of curly wavy and straight; the two sides are straight, the back is curly and the front is wavy. So when it is short it is all straight. Thanks uzma, you are sweet don’t worry, I don't put myself down or allow anyone else to do so either. IcyFire, do you know that uzma is one BIG fan of LOTR and she knows a lot too. Claribuzz, I have read your accident too. So how is your hair doing now? My hair has been fried recently too but thank goodness it is back to almost to what it was. I cannot wait until I have a go at it again I am just giving it 6-7 weeks to recover and all the broken hair grows back. Thanks guys a lot.

I've actually done both. I have the crappy hair that is wavy, coarse, thick, and doesnl't like to move, it just stands straight up. When I was a kid, I had perfectly straight relaxed hair. One day when my mom cut my hair, that's when my hair went all psycho on me and changed.
I'm a 19 year old male and had my hair straightened last year. It didn't give me the results I wanted, I thought straightening your hair would make it more relaxed, but it was still thick and coarse. After that, I had it chemically relaxed and I just loved my hair since. Everyone who noticed how different my hair was just loved it, they said my hair looked a lot better that way. I had grown my hair out for a year, but I relaxed my hair after letting it grow for 6 months. After the new hair started growing in, the hair naturally followed my relaxed hair, gowing down instead of up and I had no problems with it.
However, just a few weeks ago I cut it all off, due to all the chemical damage I had done, which included the relaxer and highlights. I want to grow it out again, but some say I should keep it short. I do like my hair short, but most people I know like it both ways. Anyway, I guess you just have to do what you have to do to manage your hair!

What exactly does relax /straightening your hair mean? I have this weird poofy hair, that if i dont gel it, it sticks up and its fuzzy. It doesnt move when i jump or anythin. it jus stays in place but it looks really dry and ugly, so im forced to gel it. its like 3-4 inches long im guessing. im asian, could that be the reason why?
