I've heard different advice, so please help me with something. When you go in to get highlights, should you go in with freshly washed hair or is it better to wait until your hair needs washing? Also, does putting conditioner on your hair just before highlights (I mean when you shampoo before, no matter when it is) help protect the hair or does it make it harder for hte color to penetrate the hair? pls help!

I don't know how often you wash your hair, but I normally wash mine daily, or every other day. My hair gets oily quickly, and I don't even condition my roots.
When I go in for highlights, I wash my hair the day before. I do everything the same as I always do. Shampoo, condition, etc. I just try not to put anything in my hair (Hair spray, etc) before I go in.

So it's better to go in with dirty hair (not dirty, but just before it gets washed next)?
