Hi, I'm looking to get tips and advice to fix and maintain my stupid hair.

I'm 27, have been receding very slowly since I was about 19. My hair is mid-brown, medium thick and goes frizzy after washing. I'm still trying to find the best product to keep my hair still without making it greasy. This month it's Wella ShockWaves Creative Clay. It doesn't do the job either. I'm in desperate need of a decent barber - been going to the same place for about 4 years but never been overly delighted, although it's the best of a bad bunch locally. My hair was at its finest when it was slightly longer than 'short' (if that makes sense) and in a centre part, but that style's rather unfashionable so I ditched it 3 years ago in favour of something shorter. Can't have it the way I would like it due to my roundish face and receding temples, so I'm thinking of growing it a little more and going for something a little more textured. It's a big leap for me, I'm fairly reserved when it comes to fashion and the style I have in mind is a little more flamboyant, so I'm taking time to mull it - or perhaps 'mullet' - over before I take the plunge.

My girlfriend thinks I'm getting 'girly' with the extent I worry about my hair. I'm starting to agree with her.

Apologies for the length of post!
