Since deciding to grow my "boy cut" out 3 years ago, I have been very leery of getting trims because it always seems I have to defend my decision to have long hair to the stylist. But my hair looks better and thicker with blunt ends, so I go about 3 times a year and never get more than 1/4" off. There is an Aveda school in my area, and it is WONDERFUL! The students are there to learn and to make the customer happy and I have never had anyone try to talk me into anything different than what I ask for. There is very strict supervision by the instructors so very little chance of anything "bad" happening. Also, the price is incredible - $10 gets me a cut and shampoo, a scalp and back massage, and a mini facial and tipping is not allowed! I've read horror stories about stylists on this board, so I thought I would pass on my experience.

Good Nyght, that's excellent to hear!
It isn't always easy to find a sympathetic stylist. Many have endured unpleasant salon visits in their search for one.
I say, if you have found a stylist with whom you can trust your long hair, you've got a gem... a real keeper.
Care to share the name & location of this salon for the benefit of others who might be in your area and be able to benefit from the info?

It's the Frederic's Aveda Institute in Cincinnati, OH. :)

Awesome,
I love hearing good stories about salon visits.
It's nice to hear of places where you get what you ask for without having to go to the special long hair salons.
I think everyone just wants a stylist who listens and respects our choices. I hope that all their graduates keep up that kind of caring.
Thanks for posting the location. I'm sure that will come in handy for people in that area who can't quite make it to Columbus or Cleveland.
Here is the website and they say they have one coming soon to Indianapolis http://fredrics.com/institute/index.htm - http://fredrics.com/institute/index.htm
