HEy all,

So since everyone claims that hair grows faster in summer.. does anyone know WHY it grows faster in summer? It is the humidity? Heat? Should I not be in AC rooms in summer if I want it to grow faster? Because If i'm in AC rooms then it's not hot.. :) Please let me know!!

Thanks!
ME.

I remember reading somewhere that the sunlight help your body produces a vitamin, but I can't remember which one. I THINK it was K or H, but i'm not sure. I read somewhere that this has to do with your hair growing faster in the summer.

My guess is that warmer weather -- and the encouragement it brings to get active outdoors -- increases the body's circulation, allowing the body in general (including the hair follicles) to have more interaction with the blood stream (and the nutrients within).

I read it somewhere...can't remember now, but I did read that it is due to the sun's rays. UV light damages hair, so the follicles go into faster production mode in order to replace itself.... It is a lot like nature in the summer.jacqui

Does that mean sunlight is a really bad thing? If the circulation thing is true then that's the best option isn't it? More activity rather than more sun?

Enfys, I would agree. The more intense the sun's rays, and the more time is spent in them, the more damage the sun can cause. Brief spells (a few minutes here and there) shouldn't have any noticeable effect, though. Ol' Blighty is a bit farther north than is Florida, so you could probably go longer stretches in the sun without any problem than I could.
