Hello Lena, nice to see a countrywoman on the board! Unfortunately I canīt really help you, I donīt have "typically swedish" hair myself, but Iīm confident there are those here who can. If not, there is a board for thin, fine hair next to this one, I have noticed. But maybe they are not in to long hair as much, I donīt know. (Some people say finehaired people should keep it short, I think that is *** though!)
I guess you do all the usual things, being careful in handling, staying away from the blowdryer, and such? How long have you been growing it? It always seems to grow slower once it gets a little longer. And what is your goal?

Hi Lena,
Exercise and a balanced diet are also helpful, not only for your hair but for overall health.
My hair is fine and long, so that "rule" against it is bunk.

WOOOO HOOOO!!
Thanks Dave, it feels really good to hear that fine hair can grow without breaking! The stylists i have been seeing the last 10 years have always cutted my hair off...i know its up to me...but still it feels good to blame the stylists...he...I had my last hair cut i january and that was it!!! Now im doing it my self, i read about how to do it here....thanks for that!
The girl who cut my hair in Jan took away MUCH more than i said! So im struggling now...

Hi Lena! Iīm a girl from Finland with same problem that you have so I canīt really give any support, sorry... my hair is now longer than ever before though, about to the mid back... Iīm trying to get it grow until my waist but Iīm not sure if thatīs possible for me. Iron has helped me most with preventing the hair falling, so it keeps my hair as thick as possible.
Iīve also started to take MSM, Biotin, multivitamins and silica but I cannot say yet if they really have helped me. I think hair oils help me a lot, itīs much easier to detangle the hair when itīs got some oil treatment.
And MY english is much more horrible than yours ...

Actually, Lena, if you live in or around Stockholm, there is a salon that deals especially with long hair, a George Michael (longhairguru, Iīm sure youīve heard of him) Long Hair Center. Itīs at Birger Jarlsgatan 97 in Stockholm. Iīve been there to buy hairpins and stuff, but never got a trim there. A friend of mine goes there, though, and she is very happy with them. They sell all the special George Michael products as well (havenīt tried them myself).

Thanks for the tips! I didn''t know that. I live in Norrköping but not for long moving to England in August.
Sounds like a good idea to get a trim at that place in Stockholm since i do have A LOT of bad experiences when it come to cut-happy hairdressers!! :( Not the best

Hi, Lena! I'm moving to England in November. :)
I also have very fine, delicate hair and have had wonderful results from Redken Anti-Snap. I used it religiously until a couple of months ago when a stylist encouraged me to "give it up for a month." I wasn't having trouble, but she said hair needs a break from any product.
Well, I did, and now I have splits and breakage for the first time in ages and will have to cut off a lot more than usual. I'm back on the Redken Anti-Snap--I swear by it!

Hi Lena,
Aww, you have my sympathies. It sucks when stylists ignore your request and cut off more than they should.
Fine hair can be grown very long. I have a friend whose hair is very fine and very long (approaching ankle length). The key is gentle care. How are your detangling techniques?
By the way, your English (and Helen's) is excellent. No need for either of you to worry about that.
The George Michael salon mentioned by Viktoria is an excellent idea. They specialize in helping their customers grow long and very long hair.
Ally, you've piqued my curiosity. What ingredients are in the "Anti-Snap" that impart its magical qualties?

And Dave my hair dont get tangled,,,,strange but it doesn't but i do use a comb to be as gentle as possibly.
I would like to know what siccors i should use to trim my own split ends......i cant afford the real good ones!!!

What i meant is that my hair dont get as tangled that i have to be ruff!! ha ha.....i dont know how to explain but its so fine that it dont tangle easy. My hair is very shiny, maybe thats why it doesn't get tangled??
Im so new to this hair care.......but i learn by reading ploples posts!!

Sorry, I know nothing about Redken. Iīm so not a product oriented person. I go by my nose, trying to stay away from strong smelling stuff. And with the liters (yes!) of conditioner I go through presently every month, I buy as cheap as I can. "Rusta" or "ÖB" is where youīll find me buying the stuff I need!

Hmmm... just curious ~
What is everyone's ponytail measurement (Circumference)? I figure as long as we are chatting about "thin" hair... thought it would be nice to compare this measurement along with the lengths anyone has obtained.
I'm almost waist and have a 2 1/4" ponytail Circumference~
I would be greatly indebt to anyone who has fine hair with a 2 1/4" Circumference ponytail; that has achieved waist or longer hair... that can offer pictures as encouragement for me.

Sweet Violet
