As a guy I had long hair for years....I decided to go shorter but not really short....about collar length, longer sides...sort of a trendier look...been wearing it that way for about 3 years and loving it.
Decided I wanted to go a bit shorter. Also had some pressure from a love one and a few friends.
I went in with a picture and I have been going to this hair dresser for 3 years and thought I could trust her...

Well I hate it...it is nothing like the picture....the sides are a bit too short, the back is about an inch or more too short, the bangs are not bad...but the worst part is she texturized the back, the sides so much that when I look at a side profile it almost looks like a helmet. Head on I don't mind in acccpet for the fact the back is not long enough.....

I guess I am just venting at this point because I really am not happy at all. I am wishing I never decided to change styles and wish I could wake up and have all my hair back

:(

Hi bluedenim,

You have my sympathy. I've been there before -- sort of. Only in my case I had no intention of going shorter. This was when I first started to grow my hair out. I was very specific in my request. The stylist apparently turned off his ears because what I asked for was not what I got -- hair that was several inches shorter than requested.

Time will make it better. Hang in there.

I once got this advice: if you want to change your hairstyle, change your hairdresser also. The idea being that the one you´ve been seeing for years just know you too well, have pre-concieved ideas about what suits you, what your lifestyle is, and so on. A new eye is usually a fresh eye. I´m sure there are exceptions, but generally, my experience has made me agree.
