It's up to you which one or two that you do and when. Giving you that link to Feye's means now you can decide how long you want to wait. You no longer have to deal with a stylist trying to convince you to trim more than you "want" or "need"
Some people don't cut or trim at all.
Some never get actual trims but do search for splits and snip those off.
The main thing is that you need to use good, sharp, actual hair scissors that are only used on hair.
Trimming or cutting hair with the wrong scissors defeats the purpose. Using the wrong scissors is like using a chain saw to cut a tooth pick. Sure it's gonna get through but it won't be a clean cut.
They don't have to be expensive. You can get a decent pair for anywhere from $15 to 100
