I have fine hair that is almost collar length. I recently bought a banana clip hair-piece that is bra-strap length. I love it, my fiance' loves it, and from the looks I get when I wear it, most other people think it looks pretty good, too. I want to wear a shorter version (just at my shoulders) for my wedding. My reasoning is that it's pretty, it's easy and it won't go flat like my own hair will. I tried an up-do of my own hair at an expensive salon, and it wasen't very pretty at all. It was really flat to my head on the sides, and after the stylist left a part in the front for the veil comb to sit, the front didn't blend in with the rest anymore. The end result was kind of like a flat top made of ribbon curls. The hairstylists I've spoken to seem to think I'm odd when I say "I have a hair-clip that I want to use"Am I committing a Bridal faux-pas by wanting to use fake hair?
> Am I committing a Bridal faux-pas by wanting to use> fake hair?Stylists think all sorts of things, as do other people who tend to be closely associated with all the hype that surrounds weddings nowadays. The first question to ask yourself is what will make you and your fiance happy and comfortable. The next question is what will make your guests happy and comfortable. Weddings aren't meant to be about rules, they're meant to be about two people who love each other and the families and friends who support them. If you want to wear fake hair, by all means, wear fake hair! For my own wedding, I committed a few things that might be considered faux pas. I have extremely bad vision, and at that time had been told I could never wear contact lenses (I've since found out different, but that's another story). I wanted to be able to see what was going on at my wedding - what memories would I have of it if I couldn't see? - so I wore my glasses. As a consequence, I didn't wear a veil, since I think they look ridiculous over glasses. I wore my then-almost-waist-length hair loose, with just the front part held back in a gold clip. None of that is traditional, of course, but it worked very well for me. My mother was ecstatic to have some photos where my hair could actually be seen. (The most recent good photo she'd seen of me was taken in the lab, so my hair was tied back in a braid and didn't show at all. She was so disappointed!)The real point is, what will make your wedding the kind of experience you and your fiance want it to be? Don't let a stylist pressure you into a choice that isn't right for you.Laura Janelswanson@sunflower.bio.indiana.edu

Hi,Stylists don't particularly like "clip on hair" because then clients may not need to come to them and have a fancy updo done. :-)In all fairness all stylists aren't like that, but many are.Follow your heart and wear what pleases you and your guy. You will have those wedding pictures for many years so wear what looks good to you. After all...the stylists will not be in your wedding photos. :-)Best wishes on your wedding.Karen> Stylists think all sorts of things, as do other people> who tend to be closely associated with all the hype> that surrounds weddings nowadays.
