Is there an answer???

I am 40 with very fine, and constantly thinning hair; just below the shoulders. As it becomes finer and thinner, I am desperate for some styling ideas! No local stylists have offered any suggestions at all...everyone tells me what NOT to do but please send me your ideas of what TO DO! Thank you! :)

Have you had a physical recently? Did they do any blood tests? One thing that can cause thinning, dry hair is a thyroid problem. These frequently go undiagnosed, but they're very easy to treat once you know what's going on, and the problem can affect more than just your hair.If your hair is really thinning a lot, you should probably ask your doctor about it at your next checkup. It could be nothing, but it could signify some deeper problem.As far as what to do with it - well, start by being very gentle, so you don't lose more than you would already. Perms may seem like a good idea, but if your hair is fine and dry, I'd avoid them. You could go shorter, with a cut that gives you as much thickness as possible (DON'T get layers!), or you could take the opposite strategy and go long. (Long hair really can be a nice easy-care option if you feel your hair is limp, because you won't feel as much need to do things to puff it up - you can braid it or put it in a bun and forget about it. Believe me, those styles take a lot less time than blow-drying and fussing with hot rollers or a curling iron!) I've seen thin hair look great both long and short.What is your face shape like?
