Just bought some hot rollers and would love some tips. My hair is past the shoulder and very thick. I love the way it looks but need some advice. I bought Revlon's 20 hot roller set with the large rollers. It says not to use hair spray with the rollers, yet every tip I've seen has said to put some hairspray on the hair before rolling it. Could Revlon just mean not to spray hairspray directly on the rollers?Alos, to the people who have used them a long time...is it better to wash the hair the night before or that moring and use the rollers when hair is (very) slightly damp? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

When to best use hotrollers? Just after washing the hair after it has dried. Using hot rollers or curling irons works better with the greature moisture and pliability that freshly washed hair has. If you like to wash at night, then curl next day, I would recommend a "molecular" style hairsetter (those steam, foam roller types) To make setting easy, start with the roller several inches from ends. Wrap ends around, then continue up toward head. If you try to start at the ends, you may end up frustrated trying to keep the ends smooth. Don't brush the hair out, shake and finger comb, instead.

> Jude,I frequently use hot rollers on my hair, which is very long, reaching to my bottom. I normally spray a light coat of hairspray on the section of hair that I am rolling before putting the roller in. Applying a small amount of gel on the piece of hair I are rolling also works well for me. It is best to make sure that your hair is completely dry before rolling, but very clean. Washing your hair the night before you roll it, and letting it dry over night works prety well.....or even washing it that morning and blow drying it....either way, I would make sure it is totally dry.Just bought some hot rollers and would love some tips.> My hair is past the shoulder and very thick. Instead of using the Hot Rollers by Revlon you should really look into purchasing some Caruso Steam Set Rollers. They do not wear and tear your hair like hot rollers do. You don't need hairspray or anything. I have long hair and for years I have been looking for rollers that would hold my hair and keep the curls in. I finally used the Caruso Rollers and they work so good. No hairspray, not hot metal burning your hair, no causing split ends. It is really worth the investment. They are not that expensive. They sell this product at Walmart and I think Super-Kmart. You really should try these first before frying your hair.
