I have had an itchy flaky scalp for many years. I havetried just about everything, including tar shampoos, dandruff shampoos, and topical steroids. I have alsotried overnight oil treatments (P&S Liquid). Thesteroids (desonide) work well behind my ears, but Ineed something to bring the scales on my scalp undercontrol. Are there any steroid shampoos out there? Please HELP!

Aveda makes a scalp treatment. It used to be called Dandruff Remedy, but they recently changed the name. I'm not sure of the new name. It is a white cream that you massage into the scalp (while hair is dry) Then you roll a brush at the scalp to clean and shed off all flakes, wax, crust, etc. It's very cool and soothing. Then, shampoo thouroughly with a clarifying shampoo. I have found that the more a person washes their hair, the more at bay Sebhorric and Psoriasis conditions are kept. Some shampoos are more successful than others. I assume you may have read the article on Dandruff etal. I did too, but find in all my experinces with these conditions that specified Dandruff shampoos are not necessarily best. I favor shampoos that clean oil well like all of Aveda's shampoos. They use oils like Jojoba that clean oil well in a more solvent manner instead of detergent. Melaluca or Tea Tree is also effective similar to Jojoba.Related Link:Pony Tails

> My boyfriend had this problem until he started using this product called Dermazinc. He ordered the product over the web. It worked in one week. No more flakes. Try it. I hope you have similar results.

I used to use this product when it was known as, "Dandruff Rememdy." Though, I now have located this Aveda product after many hours of research! It's now called simply "Scalp Remedy." I guess they thought the dandruff angle wasn't pretty enough. In any case, I've used it on and off and it does seem to work, but you have to be Very consistent.Unfortunately, I think my scalp has gone beyond its help and now I'm considering seeing a derm about it, because my hair seems to fall out even when I am very careful with it and especially when I use dandruff shapmoos. (Any ideas on why That may be happening?!)Though the Aveda cream doesn't seem to make my hair fall as often, so it might work well for you.Good Luck!'c> Aveda makes a scalp treatment. Hi, c!You asked about why your hair may be falling out more with dandruff shampoos. I gave up dandruff shampoos a long time ago because for some reason they seemed to be extremely harsh on my hair, scalp, too. If anything, the Head and Shoulders and the Neutrogena T-Gel made the problem worse. There just seem to be times when dandruff will be worse than others. In recent times, I have been virtually dandruff-free. Gentle shampoos without SLS seemed to have worked for me. The colder months, especially when the season change, seem to cause an occasional outbreak.Bye for now,Jade21I used to use this product when it was known as,> "Dandruff Rememdy."
