QuoteReplyTopic: AGHHHH. Bad CUT Posted: January 12 2000 at 5:53am
I just came back from a salon and am about to cry. I was there to try and get my waist length hair one color. I specifically asked her to try and match my roots as close as possible. Dark brown. She made my hair jet black. It looked horrible. I looked pale as a ghost(make from shock). Well she said to let her cut it to make it look less severe(dracula looking) so I let her. Now I have an above the shoulders layered bob. EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. It looks awful. I can't do anything with it. My hair is naturally curly and now without the wqeight to keep it down it goes everywhere. I would appreciate any advice on how to style it and also most important advice on how to get it to GROW FAST!!!!!!! Thank you.

I feel really, really *really* sorry for you. I just hope that they didn't make you pay for having your hair ruined like that. Well, the good thing about hair is that it does grow. About the color, you might want to go to *another* stylist in a few weeks to have it fixed. Now, as to growth, although I haven't taken it myself (except for the small amount in multivitamins), I've heard some very good things about biotin, from more than one source. You might also want to look for some articles here at the Hair Botique on growth promoting supplements. Good luck! If you are diligent in your regrowth efforts, your hair should be long enough to braid again soon, and to style as long hair again in about 2-3 years. And, from there, it should be more of a downhill battle.Erika> I just came back from a salon and am about to cry. I> was there to try and get my waist length hair one> color. Hi BrendaI'm so sorry to hear about your bad experience. Can you tell me--is the color permanent or semi-perm.? If semi permanent, you can get the color to fade quickly with frequent shampoos, using a clarrifying shampoo. If permanent, that too will tone down a bit from the moment in the salon when it was done...but not by much.I think Erika is right: you absolutely should not have to pay for *any* of the services (cut, color) you received. If you did, go back, speak to the owner, and demand a full refund. You didn't get what you asked for and they should refund every penny to you. Use this money to buy ypourself great new styling products for your cut, and possibly to get the color corrected, if you feel it's necessary after a week or so.Erika is again right. Wait a little while, and you may choose to see a colorist to have the color corrected. The color may seem less harsh or extreme to you after a week or two, so this may not be necessary. But remember that if you are really unhappy with the color, a professional (ONLY! not at home) can correct it.About the cut. Having wavy/curly hair and layers can be hardto style, depending on the how the layers were done. But long layers can be very flattering and feminine around the face. So take a day or two to try different techniques with your hair, and you may be able to style it in a way you actually like! whenever a person gets a dramatically different cut, it seems like it will be impossible to style. But once you play around with it, you'll find the right thing for you.One option you may want to try: try some L'anza smoothing/straightening balm. Apply it to your hair after showering. Section off your hair so only the back is free. Blow dry it stright with a large round brush. NExt, section off the next layer of hair. Blow dry that straight. Keep doing this in sections until you get to the front, and blow dry that. This sounds like a lot of work, but really isn't. It's just a matter of getting used to it. then it's easy and fast.I think wearing layers in curls is also very pretty. You may want to try getting some curling balm, like KMS's Curl Up. Scrunch you hair and let it dry naturally.Brenda, i hope you're feeling better. Let us know how things go for you. And definitely get your money back!!:) silvie
Thank you for all your sympathy. I really needed it. I wish I could say I have started to get used to it but I haven't. I did go to another stylist this morning but she said my hair would have to be chemically proccessed since it is so dark and it was permanent color. My hair being naturally dry anyways I would just end up being Brillo head. I found clips that look ok since they keep the strands out of my eyes. Blowdrying didn't do much since she layered it so much, it just looks ragged when straight. And YES I did complain and loudly. I got my money back plus a certificate for a new cut(differernt stylist ) for next time plus some free hair products to try. The owner was very nice and all but I still wish this whole thing had never happened. Again thank you for all your advice.
> Poor you! The same thing happened to me once. I went in with long blonde hair and came out with short black ragged hair. I know exactly how you feel. All I can say is that hair grows fast and I have had it long and short and long many times since then. I did learn a big lesson though and that is to monitor what the stylist is doing every inch of the way and all the time.Do not take risks; always get recommendations; don't let them do anything different unless you have been going for a long time.Don't worry, it'll soon grow.On another note: I met my handsome French husband after going short and dark. He had never noticed me as a blonde!
