yes- i have! When your hair is wet- its easier to add texture to so I just worked with my natural texture by applying Aussies` 3 minute miracle conditioner while hair was still wet after shampooing, then applying mouse. I then applied gel for a smooth even curl and did whatever style came to mind. THe updo`s were the cutest- with little curly tendrils spririling down the front and back. Sometimes I just wore it all down- I swear I killed that style till I just got sick of curly hair all together. It sounds like alot to do but the whole style took about 10 minutes maximum since i didnt have to blow dry.

I have been hearing about mousse for the longest, but I thought that stuff didn`t work on black people`s heads, but I bought some anyway. I am going to give it a try once I take out this style. But, I`ve got a few more questions:
Was the conditioner that you used a leave-in conditioner? Did you scrunch your hair after you applied the mousse? Did you apply the gel to your hair when it was dry? Did you apply the gel to all of your hair evenly, or just to the curls or edges?
I`ve have been wanting this for so long!! I kinda got it with John Frieda Frizz-Ease Relax Ripple effect, but it made my hair look a little dry and frizzy (my mother called me a poodle), and my stylist said that it looked like it was fighting my relaxe, so I shouldn`t use it oftenr.
Actually mousse worked very well on my hair when it was wet. It untangles your hair and brings out waves and texture. I think you should also get a mousse that doesnt contain alchohol because it will really dry your hair out. The Aussie conditoner actually wasnt leave in but I always leave my conditioners in because it keeps my hair soft and managable. But everyone has a different hair type so what works for me may not work for you or likewise. I applied the gel to all of my hair evenly as well as the ends and scrunched it. If you have naturally curly hair- you`re hair should be curling at this point but if it`s really straight from relaxers then you may need to scrunch for a little while with a blow dryer on the cool setting. It`s best to let it air dry because you`ll get a fully look- rather than a "just-got out- the pool" look. Let me know if it works!

I know that I am not the only one that wants this look. My friend gets it easily, but she won`t tell us how, and she claims that she just has "that wavy type of hair" even though she does have a relaxer. Okay, whatever. But her hair smells like jheri curl when she wears it like that, though. Heheheheee.
But the blow drying part is definitely right. When you blow dry it (when I used the Ripple Effect stuff) it just made it poofier. Dry looking and poofy. That takes away from the curls. Even though my hair is relaxed, it does have some curl in it, particularly at the ends, so I`m hoping that it does work for me. In another week or two, I will give this a try (after experimenting with my Revostyler once it arrives).
Okay, one more question: Did you use a soft type of gel (like Jam) or did you use that gel that will harden your hair (like Pro-Style).
yes its me again (calleblazinmami) just under a different sn.
Yeah it`s wierd but even though I had a relaxer I still had curly hair-kind of like your friend. I didnt relax that much though- maybe every 3-6 months. But the gel type I used was that brown protien gel. then i swithed to physique . Any time of gel will do- clear ones work best. Actually now I use white peoples gel (lol yes- i call it that) but it has a really nice way of defining and smoothing the hair without flaking up. Once again- make sure it`s alcohol free. To be honest, the only thing that worked on my curly styles was white products- even the shampoos. I dont know why. But i made sure they dont contain alcohol- otherwise its a dry itchy mess.
You can achieve this look with a "twist out" or "braid out". While the hair is wet, either flat twist it or corn row it back in 4 - 6 rows. Allow to air dry and undo the plaits. Wa- lah, soft flowing waves. No crunchy mousse needed. I normally use a leavin conditioner, some oil and maybe a hair polisher.

This weekend, I tried Calle...`s advice. While my hair was wet, I applied this mousse for relaxed hair called Vigorol. Then I began to scrunch, and I was so excited to see a wave pattern building! It was just like when I applied the Frizz-Ease Relax Ripple Effect Spray, only, it wasn`t as oily. But I was actually seeing a wave pattern building so I was excited about that. Then, I followed Calle`s other tip about applying some gel. I did this when it was damp, and the waves continued to build. When it was all done and dry, I had the exact same look that I did when I used Ripple Effect spray. I was so happy about that! I was glad considering my stylist advised me not to use Ripple Effect any more, and she told me that mousse was okay to use. The only problem that I still seem to have is that when I go to sleep and wake up the next morning, the curls are totally flat. When I attempt this style, the curls never last through the night. So Sunday before I went to church, I had to wet it again and start scrunching. But when I wet it and scrunched it again the next day, it look pretty again. I had this wavy hair with little curls at the end. It was really nice. Oh, and the mousse wasn`t crunchy to me, either. Well, this type wasn`t. Next time, I may try Pantene`s mousse for curly hair to see what that will do.
oh yeah your curls are gonna flatten when you sleep on them! lol that happened to me alot so i started keeping a bottle of water mixed with some gel and just sprayed the mist on the flattened curls and scrunched them. The back of my head never needed to be redon- i just fluffed them out. But if you dont have time in the morning to straighten out your curls, then you can pull them up in a cute curly ponytail or updo with some of the strands hanging down by your ears, nape of neck, and etc. Glad you liked the style! Ohhh yeah Pantane has a hair spray that i used too on my curls to revive them if they were flattened- and it gives a really nice soft effect. And it smells good too.

Just to warn those with the wet and wavy style, wetting your hair constantly like that can dry it out a lot. And the best way to create this style and have even prettier waves and curls is by parting your hair straight back and creating twist cornrows. All it is a cornrow, but instead of braiding it, make it a two strand twist that is attached to the scalp. You can you use a leave in conditioner like Sebastians Potion #9, and an oil or hair polisher and twist the hair and go to sleep. When you wake up in the morning you will have beautiful curls. You can make the curls as big or as small as you want depending on the size of the cornrows. To make curls extra nice put some oil on your fingers when you take out the cornrows in the morning, this keeps them from getting frizzy when you take them out. To keep them looking fresh and not flattened, just twist them again before you go to bed, you probably won`t have to put anythink in, except a little oil. You won`t have to twist them as small as you did the first time. Oh I forgot, use a soft gel by Shine, in the Black plastic jar. This stuff is really nice, it does not flake, and doesn`t make hair stiff, it just holds the style without being hard, and your hair will be really shiny. So keep retwisting with larger twists, and you can keep the style going until your next shampoo. Good luck!

Actually, the process which you are describing, well, I had it done last week. My stylist washed my hair and then she put setting lotion on it, twisted it in a cornrow style while applying gel, and then, she sat me under the dryer. When I came from under the dryer, she undid the twists while priming them with grease. That was very pretty, I mean really pretty style. But, by the end of the week, it got stale looking. I was just in the mood to try something different. I love the natural look. But, I`m learning that it is not something that I can do every single day. It`s too much maintenance to be wetting it every single day, because that`s the only way that it will look nice.
Oh yeah, and it is true; applying water to your head everyday will dry it out, or mine at least. I can`t put water on it everyday, I only did it Saturday and Sunday. Plus the gel will dry hair out to if applied too much and too often. I suppose next Saturday, I will try my own version of the twisted look. I am just so daggon lazy though. I don`t feel like twisting my entire head. I can`t even cornrow decently. Nonetheless, I`ll still give it a try. I love experimenting with my hair.
yeah rubia- that`s true what you said about the hair getting dry with so much water. That`s partly the reason I quit doing it because it was cute but it started getting too much to maintain. I got so lazy lol so now I just keep my hair straight and pull it into a ponytail and im done.

Girl, it`s okay if you don`t cornrow decently, do it at night and tie it up. You`ll see how easy and quick it is. You don`t even need a hair dryer. And by retwisting it in larger cornrows you will maintain the style without as much effort as the first time. I do recommend twisting your hair the first time while it is wet, cause it will set and hold the style better. Then just let it air dry. The Shine gel I recommened doesn`t dry your hair out at all, if anything it makes it moisturized, that is the only gel that touches my head. I promise you will love the shine and softness it gives your hair. Good luck, trying it next weekend.
