hi there
ok we are experimenting here : )
theres just one thing i dont get...
the pretipped and bonded sample of got from my hairdresser
(hairdreams)
and the bonds from sherry are definatly made of keratin.
but keratin gets liquid while heating it..
guess thats bad for shrinkies thou...
so what to use to pretipp for shrikies?
liquid gold melts aswell and thats all fine with microrings i guess
the shrinkie provides some insulation between the heat wand and the
tip. The tip will probably deform some but not fall apart int he
shrinkie.
also shrinkies only need to go to ~120 C to shrink. So depending
on the melting temperature of keratin (which I can't find)
I use liquid gold on my tips for shrinkies and I agree that the tip
deforms but even the ones that I'm too lazy to coat in nail glue come
out nearly the same as they went in.
does that help at all?

We generally use craft glue or liquid gold, and then cover the tip with Nail glue to keep the LG or craft glue from melting into the hair. The most important thing is that the glue not be flammable.
By the way, just got a massive box of hair from you. Can't wait to dive in. Thanks!!
you don't have to do a layer of nail glue. but it does seem to
help some with keeping the tips intact. but some people think it makes
them slip out of the shrinkies.
For selling to people I'm not sure you'd want your stock all covered in
nail glue cause them people couldn't use it for fusion...
For doing an install yourself you probably want to play around and see what works for you. There's a big surprise!
I have tested the plastikaar with fusion (keratin glue) and it doesn't hold up very well. It doesn't seem to want to fuse with the plastikhaar so if you did a full head install with plastikaar and fusion it wouldn't last very long. Also my hairdresser tested plastikhaar and keratin tips in extentubes. They all fell out as the plastikhaar and keratin seemed to fall apart. I'm going to tip all my plastikhaar for my install with rings and shrinkies with latex and nail glue, that seems the way to go with plastikhaar xxx
Sara, I marked the tips that I sent to you ( Or so I thought I did )Some of the tips were keratin tipped then either had a top layer of LG or nail glue. The others were tipped with Aleenes tacky glue and top coated with LG or nail glue.
I'm not sure about the keratin/synthetic issue? I hadnt tried the keratin with synthetic hair.
Ah yes I remember Sara. Some of the pretips, the small sized tips were just keratin tipped (those were from my human hair supplier in Korea) I just wanted to give you samples of the different sizes.
It would be nice to buy pretips similar to Mark Barringtons pretip. Those dont need any extra top coat of anything and dont melt under the shrinkie and stay intact on removal.
Although if you do start offering a pretip for sale it might be best to just let the cutomer do their own top coat, since some use LG some use nail glue.........

Definitely not, it doesn't seem to want to hold very well and just pulls apart when moist x
I've had the same experience with human. It may be the glue(or lack there of) I'm not sure I'm putting enough on...too much and your bonds are big. It's a trade off! If my memory serves me right you use x10 too Amanda. Maybe that has something to do with it?
Yes I do use the X10 stick Gina, they are brill with the human but not with the plastikhaar, they cool really quickly so they don't melt the plastikhaar but then they don't seem to be very strong. That would be great Sara, the real test would be for somebody to wear a few tipped in their hair to see what happens x
Well I've just started tipping the plastikhaar with the craft glue that I've been using with the human that's been very successful with the shrinkies and I've got a guinea pig that's willing to try it out so I'll post pictures as soon as I've done the install and keep you posted of the results x
I'm an epoxy fan. One step and the ends are rubbery, not brittle, which is a plus when they stick out of the top of the shrinkie and into your head. I have 0 shedding and they look the same the day I put them in as I take them out.
