Do a search on 'Great Lengths' on this board and you will find volumes of info.  Some people here love them, some hate them, but I think that we all agree that they are way over priced.

I agree with Metalgirl, they are way over priced, but they are great (I had them my first time also).

Check out all the great threads on DIY, then I would check out shrinkies.net, they have a great DIY kit that uses bonding tape, I think as a first timer, you really couldn't go wrong with it.

Awe thank you Loxinneed *blushing*

I actually have clients flying from places like Ohio and Arkansas to see me. Funny how they can fly out here, get their hair done, stay for a weekend vacation in a beach hotel and still save a ton of cash. There will be deals in your area too, you just have to find them. I have a 'find a stylist' on my website. That may be a start for you to begin your search. I think Great Lengths has awesome hair, I just think they are very over priced. Another thing is that they advertise how you can wear them up to 6 months and many try to keep them in that long. For 95% of people that's way too long. I personally wear mine for 3 months. Most of my clients go 3-4 1/2 months and i don't recommend going any longer. If you have fine/thin hair you should get a new set at about 3 months. Medium/thick hair can go to around 4 months and thick sturdy hair can typically go a little longer.

I also recommend trying to do them yourself, you can do your whole head for less than $200. If you're set on having them done, try a yahoo or google search with the name of your nearest large city and the words 'hair extensions' you should get a few options from that. You could also check the Yellow Pages. Some salons will have ads in the Yellow Pages and you can always call around. Get some free consultations and check out their before and after photos. All extension artists should have photos of clients they have done. Make sure they are not generic photos and that they are real clients of theirs. A good price on extensions at a salon is between $600- $900 for a full head (not that I think that's a great deal, it's just the lowest I've heard them going for- Keep in mind I live in the "OC" *haha*).

Keep us posted on what you find and take some before and after photos. We love pictures

~Kristin

Yeah, I would also recommend doing it yourself. It's actually not that
hard, especially if you have a friend to help you. I did it for the first time
completely on my own (I don't trust my friends with my hair! haha) and I
was actually surprised. And it's WAY cheaper, then also you don't have to
rely on other people, if you know how to put em in, you can take them
out too and probably fix most probelms you have with them.

So just find a method that you want to use, and research it like crazy!! I
would recommend something like microlinks or shrinkies. Goodluck, and
yeah, post pictures!!!!
