Well, I now have my hair at that length and style, but the Brazilian Keramine straightening procedure that I got in August is wearing off and the back and around the ears on the sides are starting to regain that wavy-curl thing that happens on me. I can't afford to do the straightening again, so I have a few questions for you:
1. My hair, even though it's long now, doesn't really flow freely on the back and sides. Like if I were to shake my head side to side the front and top would fly around but the back and sides would just sit there. Is that something to do with the thickness? It just annoys me how on some guys the hair falls freely everywhere, but on me it stays pressed against my neck (for the back) and against the side of my head (for the sides).
2. Is there any way to tame the curls on the back and sides? A product (that actually works)? I've seen that biosilk stuff and straightening balms but I can imagine those doing a whole lot of nothing.
3. The other thing that bothers me about my long hair is that it doesn't naturally part like the guy in the first photo. In order to do this I have to put some sort of product in my hair and mold it into that shape (parting it in the middle and pulling it back a little), then when it's dry I can straighten it and blow dry it and everything else. So can other people with the same style as pictured just shower and comb their hair and have it fall naturally like that?
4. Do those wet-to-straight irons work?
Thanks in advance, I appreciate the help alot!

Depending on how the hair is cut,or grew out,it may not fall freely on the back or sides.
I could guess that maybe once the back gets longer, then it wont cling to your neck as you say it does.Unfortunately, that is the hard part of growing hair out,the awkward stages.
The only thing I could maybe suggest to you, that I have seen other guys do to cut back on thickness and curliness,is to shave the hair underneath.
It helps the hair lie flat and makes it easier to pull it back if you want to wear a ponytail.
As far as straightening goes....for naturally curly hair,I'm not sure there is much you can do except to straighten every day,or get it chemically straightened with a hair relaxer or home perm/straightener.
Straight irons do work, although they can be time consuming.
I know this isnt what you want to hear, but I think you are trying too hard to fight your hair's natural style and want something that may just not be possible for your hair type (at least not without alot of fuss)
Your hair is wavy and looks nice.My husband has wavy hair too and he hates it.I love it.I think it's different and looks good on him.
