Why choose thermo synthetic over natural hair? I just purchased some of the new hair from Doctored Locks. It will/was released at the end of August...which has passed, so hopefully will ship soon. I had read many positive reviews of synthetic, so I thought...why not?

Why use keratin products? I installed some strands w/keratin chips from Sallys. I read online that removal consisted of adding some acetone, cracking and all is well. This was not the case. I lost hair and the keratin did not want to loosen from my natural hair. The strands also shed. Is this the same as pretipped hair? Shrinkies looked interesting until I read they utilized the same removal as the keratin and that scared me.

I do not care for the links because they do not open as easily as advertised. I bought everything and still have the links in my stash.

I am just curious as to why people choose the various methods. I have used LG, tapes, keratin, TemBond, and links.

I think people just develop their own preference of methods and products.  I myself wear wefts, usually clip ins  but sometimes bonded with tape.  For me, it's quick and easy to do for myself.

After giving thermo a good try, for me it's much more fussy  than a good quality human hair.

For clients, I usually sew in or bond wefts, or do fusion, or shrink links.  With a decent quality fusion or the shrinkies,  removal should not cause damage if you do it properly and with extreme care and patience.  An inproper removal where damage results is common with  inexperienced stylists  or an inexperienced DIYer.

I don't think Sally's Beauty sells good quality hair and I doubt their keratin is top of the line either.  For good fusion hair and rebond chips, look into www.donnabellahair.com.   I have been using that brand, as well as So Cap and the bonds are durable, little shedding, but do come out easily  with proper removal.
