19/f here, losing my hair! I`m trying to be as gentle a possible, shampoo less, comb once a day, I even switched to herbal ALL NATURAL shampoo/cond. I take 12 vitamins a day now. Try to do the scalp massages. Anyway, Im wondering if going from medium layered to a short cropped will help those pesky traitors to stay in my head. If anyone can give an opinion, I`d really love it.
Aussi, It sounds like no matter what you do you`re on your way to losing your hair. Have you been to a doctor! It sounds like you maybe in the first stages of Alopecia. If you haven`t been to one to get things checked out I would recommend you do so.

I agree that you need to see a doctor right away if the hair loss is continuing. Make an appointment with a "Dermotologist" since they are MD`s who specialize in hair and skin problems. I really don`t think cutting your hair shorter will help though. Eating a good balanced diet, stress relief and rest can help for sure!!! Good luck! Anaclaire

I also think that you should quickly make an appointment with a Dermatologist. I was there some months ago looking for something against hair loss caused by genetics. I was looking for Regaine (a German version of Rogaine) but for me it is not reasonable why there are too much restrictions in age and side effects respective blood pressure. Now I am looking for Nioxin and for this stuff called Mega Hair. I don`t know if it is really true but I had the impression that bananas helped a little bit to reduce the daily hair loss. From a recent hair discussion at work I heard from a co-worker that shampoos were too agressive for his hair. He uses only body care stuff for hair washing. I use shampoo (thinned with a lot of water) only for the scalp and let it rinse down with cold water, conditioner only for the hair hanging down. Currently I use hair skin and nails (2 pills every day) and mulitvitamins (1 pill). With scalp massages I am carefully, it increases the hair loss. The usual daily hair loss is about 100 hairs a day. For combing I use only a wide toothed hard rabber saw cut comb. Even with this comb I have to be very carefully. Wet hair seems to be very sensitive.
I am a hairdress and i have very thin hair ,,, I can tell you that it does help to keep your hair shorter ,, with layer , Im not saying chop it all off ,,but shorter does help. I also have used the product (Nioxin) ,,and it did work . i do also think you need to see a dr for a more professional opion.. i hope , it works ,

I am 35 female who started with alopecia areata about 12 weeks ago. My hair is past my waist and I feel the more my hair falls out the more it destresses me. I have considered having my hair cut short but until some grows back it will make the bald patches more obvious, do you have any suggestions?
