QuoteReplyTopic: Tip from my long hair salon Posted: January 12 2000 at 2:57am
I drove to Cleveland over the weekend (3 hrs!) for my seasonal trim and George Michael 12 minute conditioning at Enchantress, my favorite salon that caters to long hair. During the trim, my stylist Jody noticed a "weak spot" in the middle of my hair at the bottom. She thinks it was caused by breakage from possibly tugging too hard on wet hair when I try to comb out my tangles.Jody said she recently got back from an ARTec convention and received a tip she thought might help. Mix equal parts Smoothing Serum with Texture Gel on wet hair before combing. She says the ARTec people claim the mixture increases elasticity in wet hair, helping to guard against breakage. I bought a whole bunch of ARTec stuff and am renewed in my goal to get my hair to my waist! I'm currently at 26 inches... Jody had to trim a little more off to get my sides even with the weak area. C'est la vie!Hope this tip helps others trying to grow their hair. Let me know!
Hi,This is an awesome tip. I have been using the Smoothing Serum on my wet hair and then finger picking and letting my hair air dry and I love the stuff. Sometimes when I let my hair air dry is sort of "sticks" to my head in a plastered way so I try to pick it well.I have the TextureGel sitting right here next to my PC waiting for me to try and get to the review I am writing. So I am trying this tip.I am very impressed that you drive 3 hours for your visit. That shows tremendous dedication. I know it is worth it. Luckily I don't have to do that...but some day I plan on visiting some of the well known long hair salons in other cities and like Tamara who came to Dallas from Canada...I will be wiling to do it for my hair. :-)Thanks for the ARTec tips.By the way...Jeff switches back and forth between Smoothing and Aveda and I can tell you that his hair...in my opinion...looks better on ARTec.Have a great evening.Best wishes,Karen> I drove to Cleveland over the weekend (3 hrs!) for my> seasonal trim and George Michael 12 minute> conditioning at Enchantress, my favorite salon that> caters to long hair. What does a "weak spot" mean, or at least, how do you think your stylist determined that? What did she do to fix it? Just curious. Thanks,Clare> I drove to Cleveland over the weekend (3 hrs!) for my> seasonal trim and George Michael 12 minute> conditioning at Enchantress, my favorite salon that> caters to long hair. > What does a "weak spot" mean, or at least,> how do you think your stylist determined that? What> did she do to fix it? Just curious.> Thanks,> ClareNormally, my hair would be trimmed in a "rounded" fashion, with the sides slightly shorter than the back. This gives it a softer appearance than if it were cut straight across. Well, a section of hair in the middle of my back was a little shorter and thinner than the sides, which disrupted this nice "U" shape. Jody had to trim a little higher to even everything out. She thinks I've been tugging too hard when combing my hair out or maybe it's my blowdryer that's caused damage in that part. She's forbidden me from doing either from now on!

I have found that the Smoothing shampoo works well with all my conditioners.. Aveda and all my varieties of NG. Tonight I ordered the Artec's moisturepac and the detangler spray which I think is also a light leave in conditioner. I am anxious to receive these in the mail. With another order of Dawn's hairties on order also, I will be quite anxious for mail deliveries! :-) Cher~
