QuoteReplyTopic: HELP- ILLUMINOUS HAIR! Posted: December 04 2001 at 3:45am
Last night I decided to lighten my hair using a lightener so I could get the deep red color I wanted to go for. Sure enough, my dark brown hair turned ( a little brassy) blonde and then I put the permanent red on it. As the color was on my hair, it look absolutely fine but then I washed it out and dried it and realised my roots were almost illuminous orangey red and the overall color is far too bright!! I look like I`ve got a glowing head! I`m sitting at work now with this stupid hair- feeling like a clown- can someone please help me?!!!

That is hurtfull & wrong. Us Americans stopped loathing the brits about 200 years ago. speak for yourself.
As far as the hair color problem goes try Pantresse Vitamin treatment pack to get the luster back & wait a few weeks before you recolor, unless of course you want to strip & fry your hair.
Huh?!?! I am American!! Anyways, thanks for the tips so far... I colored it again last night and it didn`t make much difference so I`ll try your suggestions- thank you!

Very good advice from Wakeup. I suggest you condition your hair a few times before any recoloring. If your hair is only mildly orange, you can try using a very, very low peroxide demi-permanent color in a cool brown or a dark blonde. If this doesn`t work or if you already look like Ronald McDonald, go to a professional colorist. He/she can get you back to your original color with minimal damage to your hair. Chalk the entire thing up as a learning experience and a funny story for the grandkids. For future reference, this happens quite frequently. So much so that it is covered in the Clairol Professional Color Correction Guide. Here is a formulaic solution to that problem that should work (a color specialist may have a better, easier solution): Quoted from the Clairol Professional Site: Recommend a soft neutral Level 6-Dark Blonde color using a gentle, nonammonia product like Complements Long-Lasting Semi-Permanent True Tone Gel Color. By combining neutral and blue/violet Complements shades, the formula will help neutralize the gold-orange base. Here`s how: 1. Mix the following formula in a bottle or bowl: 1-1/2 oz. Complements Semi-Permanent Gel Color 6N-S Dark Natural Blonde 1/2 oz. Complements Semi-Permanent Gel Color 6A-S Dark Ash Blonde 2 oz. Complements Color Prompter 2. If the client`s hair exhibits extreme porosity, apply the formula to damp hair, first at the scalp and 1-inch out, then down the shaft to the ends. 3. Strand-test to determine timing, checking every 5 minutes up to 15 minutes. 4. When desired results are achieved, rinse, shampoo and condition. I sincerely hope you never have to use this formula. Good luck!
