I am convinced too that distilled water is fabulous if you deal with well water. I went today and bought 3 jugs for the week. It's worth 1.75 a week to rinse with super soft water. Try rinsing with cooler jugged water.. Karen posted this week on the merits of cold water rinsing.. but watch that water on your back.. I have let out some rebel yells when it was too chilly!!!! ;-) Cher~

Cher,Thanks so much for responding...and I'll be heading to a salon today to find that Revlon chellating shampoo. I went back and read your article on "hard water and hair" (it was terrific) and I'm convinced that distilled water is almost a requirement if you live in the country. My hair has always been pretty "hardy"...standing up to just about any abuse, but this time it's really showing the damage. Some of the stickiness has gone away, but the shine hasn't come back.Again, thanks and I'm grateful for the advice.Sharon

You have indicted that your softner is fixed now? And you are still experiencing side effects? I would buy a good chellating shampoo to get rid of the mineral build up but be careful because most are harsh. Do not use it more than once or twice. I have used one by Revlon that was only sold in salons. It was gentle. Then I would get a few jugs of distilled water and use them as a final rinse for about a week to help restore some balance to your hair. Plus, do some good conditioning treatments. If you hair is still sticky, I would begin to think the softner is emitting too much salt into your house water and maybe it needs to be adjusted. Let me know if I can be of more help.. Cher

Hi,Our water softener 'died' and it took several days to get it fixed. As we live in the country, our extremely hard water has done a real number on my hair. It is dull, and almost 'sticky' after washing. Any suggestions on what I can do to get rid of the hard water minerals that have evidently deposited on my hair? Thanks,Sharon
