With the best of nutrition and care, your hair can grow up to 1/2" a month, so you can optimistically expect to grow your hair 8 1/2" in 17 months. If you're dieting, you may be cheating your body of necessary nutrients, so your hair may not grow out as long and as healthy as it could. Be careful and realistic when you dieting--don't go starvation. Besides, your fiance loves you for who you are, not who you are 50 pounds lighter! Don't stress yourself out and set yourself up for failure!!Eat well, use quality products, and get a trim when YOU feel you need one (even if it's just a month before your wedding!). Everyone's got good suggestions, but you're the only one who'll really know what you need and when you'll need it for your hair.Good luck to you in growing your hair and best wishes for a beautiful wedding!> I've stopped going to the salon, because I've never,> let me repeat that, NEVER had a positive experience> there. Hi there! It's a shame that you have had such aweful experiences at the salon. Up until a year ago, I was a salon hopper myself-- but don't give up totally, there are wonderful salons out there, you just have to find them. A good salon will explain to you what hair care products to use in order to keep up your salon look at home. You said that you are trying to grow out your hair, right? Well first, be realistic-- in one year, your hair is only going to grow about six inches (that doesn't include trims). You also will need to factor in trims-- about every three to four months if you're on the grow, and do minimal daily styling damage. Make sure you use a good conditioner to give your hair some protection against the elements! I am on the grow with my hair (loose curls, chem. treated) and I have found that ARTec Textureline has some wonderful products (you can buy on-line at the Worldwide Beauty Store-- real cheap!), and you can choose either Volumizing or Smoothing!Good Luck!Sherry

I've stopped going to the salon, because I've never, let me repeat that, NEVER had a positive experience there. It always felt too har and dry, and I didn't like the cut style, wait, or noise.Inever got any advice about home care. What kind of products can I use at home?
