Sorry DJ. I actually had the wrong website information. It's http??members.aol.com/scentsnw/Okay that's the website. And about the conditioner. It's a Mane and Tail thing but it's the one in the white bottle. I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the manufacturer. I will have to post another message with that information. But the main (mane haha) thing is to be gentle with your hair no matter what products you use.Related Link:Making Good Scents
ThanksBy Arrow conditioner, do you mean the Mane and Tail stuff. I'm sure I have some in my closet of \way too many cast offs.I'll try to use this regimen. I can almost put my hair on a ponytail now, witht he assistance of about 15 hairclips, it is possible. I'll let you know how it goes.I tried tou use some of the setting techniques in the Good Hair book, but i ended up with a nappy dry afro.. I'm sure it will get better as I go along.I'll go to the store tomorrow and try to find some pnytailers, and gel that are gentle to use on my hair. Yhe omly thing I have at the house now are terry cloth, and rubber bands. Thanks again for the info.
Hi DJ. I tired to send you a message earlier but my computer did some stupid stuff. Since your hair is in the very early stages of growing out a relaxer what you might have to do for a few months is to go ahead and blow dry and style as you regularly do. Only this time you will have to go overboard in conditioning. Our hair is very fragile and very, very dry. Even more so when it is chemically processed.Try this. After shampooing use Arrow conditioner to help you comb through the new growth (it works very well). Then rinse that completely out and add a very heavy conditioner. I don't really know one to reccomend as I am still testing them myself (and trying to get my sister to make on) but try Nexxus. Leave that in for like 10 minutes or even longer if you have time. Then rinse that out but not completely. Leave a little in. Then go ahead and blow dry as you normally would only very very carefully. Add some hair oil that has jojoba and lanolin. Only to your hair though not the scalp. And especially condition the ends. Then if you normally would use a curling iron do so but not too hot. Now if you find yourself wanting to touch up with the curling iron later, don't do it! Hold back you can do it! Make sure you wash your hair at least once a week. Handle it with extreme care and condition it with like a dime size drop of hair oil every day (especially the ends. Test your hair once a month to see if it will go back into a pony tail. Do this in the shower while your hair is under the faucet. Once it is able to do this you should stop blow drying etc.Yes my sister does sell her stuff. I've listed her web site below. You have to send her snail mail and ask for a Northwest Scents products brochure. Her website(listed below) is for her newsletter which has recipes for most of her products. I'm not sure if the hair cream and oil are on there but I think the shampoo is. She's working on it though because I am on her back. She will be improving her hair conditioner soon so I don't think she has published her recipe for this yet. Her stuff is all natural and no silicone etc. The shampoo does not lather like store bought shampoo but it is very gentle to your hair. I use that once a week and then I use another shampoo in the later part of the week. Please let me know how you're doing and send any questions you may have. Let me know if this regimen (sp) works for you. You should be able to know if it will work out the first time you do it. Good luck
Am now reading Good Hair. And it's funny. I've gone through all those thngs, even the glue on hair. Stll need help! Sorry to sound so exclusive. i need help from anybody that can offer it. I did nor mean to restrict the response to only black women.
I have decided since my last perm - mid december - to grow the chemicals out of my hair. Here's my dilemna. I don't know how, or what to use while it is growing out. I haven't had natuarl hair since the 70's. Can some other Black women please help me with advice, and care, and products.Right nowm I have hair that is about 5 inches in length. I looked up some postes for the last two months, but I am still clueless. I guess my first task is to find the book Good Hair at the library. But where from there. I read so many things. Wild growth - I've seen it, does it really make your hair grow?. Horsetail - I use Biosil since yesterday, can you really get your hair to grow 2 inches in a month?. I use the creme of nature ultra moisturizing shampoo. I haven't used the HAIR conditioner, but i've seen it.What about styling options? It's hard to put my hair into a braid or ponytail, because i have breakage in the crown. I'm sure it's from the relaxers. I can't wear braids - unspoken rule at work. I've had extensions, but they irritate my scalp too.Any and all suggestions are welcome.Ps. Marsha:), I tried to email you at the address you posted in the Dity=Growth thread, but it was returned as unknown. Can you post it again.PS KendiaThese products that your sister makes for you. Are they for sale? Are the ingredients or recipes available? Please answer soon. My hair needs some serious help.
