*shrugs* Well, I do like to look into the psyches of others and find out how and why they are the way they are. Maybe I should just set up a survey on a more general board for that purpose, then, and see what I get.
More awesome than a manatee!

Kuroneko, I did not say, at any point I prefer long hair on african american women because it was less common. What I originally said was I found Halle's old do' common, which in my experience, it is. Brent E responded by saying, that long hair was a "dime a dozen", extolling the virtues of short hair. I responded by saying that her previous look, among african american women was in fact fairly common(and if you read it, I mentioned it's a great look on many women), and I went on to make more clear why I liked Halle's new, longer, straight look.It would appear I didn't make that point clear enough. What I said, in the previous post was that I liked this look on Halle as I felt it nicely complimented her bone structure, and features, and was a refreshing change for her. I form my opinions on peoples choices in style on a person to person basis, and it's obviouslly subjective. On some women I love long hair, on others I prefer short, or mid-lengths. Your comment that since I like long hair on african american women because it's less common, and therefore must prefer short hair on other races for the opposite reasoning, is to me, a bit absurd. Since I never said that I prefer long hair on them for this reason(go ahead-reread it), there's no foundation for the comment. The "logic" that follows it, I won't even attempt to understand. I don't presume to understand, or have insights into anyoneone on this boards' psyhe, and if I did, wouldn't feel the need to offer them. I have no idea why you have such an affinity for short hair, nor do I care. This board, in my understanding, is a place to discuss celebrity hair. That's all I initially thought I was doing. Twice now, I've felt the need to sort of defend my opinion. I just think that's not the point. Anyway K, on an unrelated point, I really like your new pic. Imo, a much more flattering one!Have a good one.

If you like long hair on black women because it's less common, shouldn't it follow you would prefer short hair on white, Asian, Hispanic, and Native American women, as that's what's less common on them?

When a woman is as pretty as Halle, with such a lovely face and nice figure, her hair is basically irrelevant. Who is even paying much attention to her hair?

IMO she looks great with long hair because it does exactly the sameas her short hair: it leaves her face completely visible. Minute difference: the short pixie put a little bit more emphasis on the eyes.
Rardman, the reason why you like it long on her (uncommon for African Americans etc), should make it in fact less ideal. Since she has loads of time and money to spend on her hair (and shoes and jewels and ..), she depicts an unreal image for those women. An ideal, impossible for most to achieve. She looks nice OK, but how many women will get unhappy (or start sighing and dreaming)? And how many more are going to try to copy it (without all the money and time) ending up less attractive?
I know, it's not her responsibility to have an appearance that is achievable for most. But I just wanted to point out another side of the medal.
That said: she remains a beautiful woman, no matter what length.
Halle actually isn't pure black, she is a mixed race person(half black/half white). That is why it is easier for her to grow long straight hair than most black women, and why her features are more Caucasion looking.
Ultra-short hair like Halle's pixie may not be quite as common as the common cold, as you have stated, but thankfully it is much more common these days, many women wear their hair very short, and many of them look lovely and sexy in very short hair!

Brent E, Thanks for your opinion, on my opinion. Perhaps I should clarify my point. Long straight hair, on many women may be a "dime a dozen", but as someone who has worked on African American women's hair a fair bit, I can assure you, among their population, it is not. In fact, the gorgeous style Halle is currentlly sporting, could only be achieved naturally by a very small percentage of them. That leaves options of course, wigs, extensions, etc., but women of color have to put a significant bit more effort and expense into the upkeep of their styles. Which, brings us back to the more popular option. The classic, close cropped, relaxed, Halle'esque do'. You need only travel to a few major urban cores, and actually look around, to realize that this is the popular choice for a large percentage of this population. It's easier, and cheaper to maintain, and a great look for many women. In fact on many women, there is no better look for them. On the right woman, it's quite stunning. However, as I stated, it's common. Common as a cold. That wasn't meant to be an insult, merely a statement of fact. That being said, I said I prefer Halles latest look for the following reasons. I feel it works really well with her overall features, compliments her bone structure nicely, and it's a refreshing change. That is of course just my humble opinion, which is what the board is about. Beauty is afterall in the eye of the beholder, and unlike some who post on this board, I don't think that this is mandated by having only one specific hair length. Not all women look their best in short hair(or long). Anyway, thanks for the feedback, and have a good one!
Wow! As a die-hard short hair fan, I was totally prepared to hate it as I clicked on the link (remember the wavy extensions she had for Gothika - ugh), but it actually looks good on her!
I think deep down I still crave the punky pixie on her, but this looks great!
Rardman, I could not disagree with you more. Halle looked much sexier and more elegant with her short pixie. It is long straight hair on women that is common. It is very ordinary, a dime a dozen. Having stated that, Halle obviously is beautiful in any hair length or style.
According to Yahoo Movies 'Nappily Ever After' is still in some limbo pre-production stage and Halle Berry is currently involved with filming another project.

I think Halle has never looked better than in her latest pics. The long straight hair is breathtaking. Also, her latest pics for Revlon where it is long and curly are stunning. I prefer Halle 100 times more with long hair. The short hair was cute for sure, but imo, not sexy, not elegant, and basically, pretty common. I hope she keeps this look for a long time!
I've gotta add my vote for her old short spiky look. This long straight look is pretty and elegant, and Heaven knows Halle looks gorgeous in any style. But to me, the short spiky style was the most unique, had the most personality, and really made her stand out. Hope she returns to it someday.
Probably true. But I just think that good long hair is a good starting point for most beautiful women. As someone once said, hair is a woman's ultimate accessory and a beautiful woman has more things she can do with long hair than short hair. She can pull it back, have it up, wear it down, have a pony tail...in general have fun with her hair and enjoy it. As a change, it's great to see short hair on a woman (like Raschel Weisz now), but I think it's better when you know the general tendency is for it to be long. Just my opinion of course!
As for the 'bald ladies in film' thing (not that I think Halle Berry has any intention of going bald), I believe it is mostly unnecessary and is just really playing on the emotional sensibilities of the star's fan base: a way to get gossip moving about a movie or project. After all, nobody has their arm chopped off, if they need to portray a disabled person.
My two cents.

Unhappiness :-( . It went from huge and overwhelming to flat and boring. I don't care to see her completely bald, but shorter works best for her, anything from the pixie she's famous for to the curly bob in those ads. She's still a beautiful woman no matter what, but why settle for just being beautiful when she can look like a goddess?
Actually there are very few movies where women get their heads shaved.
It seems to me that it is passe or boring only if shaving the woman's head has nothing to do with the plot of the film, or if the women doesn't look good bald.
Some women don't look all that good bald, however some look gorgeous bald. Bai Ling looked very good bald. My guess is that Halle Berry will look good bald as well.
I think these movies where famous ladies get shorn are becoming awfully passe'...didn't do anything for Demi Moore, Cate Blanchett or Bai Ling. I fear a similar Halle Berry movie will just be rather boring.
Anyway, I agree that she is gorgeous with any look.

Her long hair has to be a wig or extensions. Yet all of you are right, Halle is gorgeous in short or long hair. I still prefer her though in her short pixie.
I would be interested in what she will look like in that new movie with the ultra short afro. I'm sure she will be stunning!
