Hi Bridgette and welcome!

I'm so sorry to hear about the whackjob with the scissors.  I'm always paranoid about that happening, too.  Please, though, if something like that ever happens again, say something.  Even if it's just to let the person know that she went completely against your wishes and will never have you or anyone you know as a client again.  Whenever I have a stylist who tries to bully me into something, I remind myself that I'm the one paying.

You might also seek some support from the Long Hair section of this site.  There are some really great people over there, too.  You'll be prepared when the length grows back.

Anyway, since you've already poked around the boards, I'm sure you've picked up a lot of info.  I wish you the best of luck with whatever method you choose to go with!

Hi,

Yes, it is me again…still whining over my hair.

Sorry for your bad perm experience…I will never do the perm thing again.

The picture I saw of Jackson…he looks adorable and I would love to see more pictures of him. I have had Bulldogs for years too…Bissy is my third and I did have one litter of pups with Bulldog #2 (Miss Kitty fawn & white). I have wanted to breed Bissy but it such a huge commitment. I also showed Bissy the first year or two but she had no interest and I did not either…too much travel and expensive. It just seems to me that the dogs that do really well like being in the ring showing off…Bis just likes being goofy. Does Jackson have any strange quirks? Bissy has this thing about lights…flashlights, penlights. She loves to chase a light beam until she is exhausted. She is fanatical about them. My first Bullie was that way over large balls…basketballs or soccer…she would go nuts if she saw one and play until exhaustion or until she popped it…just carrying it around in her mouth running like someone would snatch it from her and she loved to clamp down on a tire swing and just swing away. Miss Kitty would attack the vacuum cleaner whenever it was in use…she would grab it with her mouth and lift it up off the ground. Miss Kitty was also a storm predictor…about 20 minutes before a storm would even start she would frantically whine, cry and jump up in my lap like a big baby…that was a lot of Bulldog landing in your lap : )

I just love your soap sample. I love real soap and had been making it for about 5 years until 3 years ago when I moved and misplaced my very “bestest” soap base recipe that took me months to perfect. I have not made a drop since but luckily, I had tons stockpiled however I finally ran out about six months ago. Your soap is really grand and makes me determined to find my recipe or I will just need to start ordering that from you too : )

Gosh, we have a lot in common,

Bridgette

Welcome, Bridgette! We've exchanged mail off the board already,
didn't we? Again, I'm so sorry she whacked off your hair. I think you
and I are hair twins in the past. I had hair past bra length in high
school, went in for a perm and "trim" and came out with shoulder
length. The perm fried my hair and I couldn't cut any shorter so I
was left with this short, crispy bob. I know how you feel because I
was devastated. I've never been able to get it that long since. :(

Miss Bissy is a lovechild! Her head and those rose ears are perfect.
Dont'cha love when they sit like that? LOL!

I am the one with the Bulldog. His name is Jackson and he's a fawn
brindle who's 3 years old. I'll upload some photos of him in this
thread later if you'd like? I was into showing with my first one (he
placed second at the Cow Palace) but Jackson is simply a spoiled
couch potato. I've had Bulldogs for years and years. :)

So nice to have you on the board!

Thanks guys

I should have complained...I just never know what to say. I end up blaming myself for making a bad choice in stopping there. That is the first shop I had been in since the last hair disaster 3 years prior. The person that normally cuts my hair (3 or 4 times a year) works out of her house and like Marie87 said, she just trims my ends up. I usually cannot tell she has even cut it when she is done. Thats a good hair cut to me...no drastic changes.

I have the worst luck when it comes to shops. Six years ago my hair was fairly long...bra strap level and in the best condition it had been in since I was a child. I get this bright idea to get a perm. So I go to another local shop that was trimming my hair occasionally to get the perm. Even though I had scheduled my appointment a couple weeks prior the lady was working on several different people at the same time. So she gets her mother (who supposedly owns the shop but is not a licensed cosmetologist) to apply the perming solution to my hair and puts me under the hairdryer. When I am done and the daughter goes to apply the neutralizer she discovers that the mother put the wrong solutions on my hair because the neutralizer bottle is empty. So they want to do the perm again. I keep questioning them about "will it damage my hair" and they assure me it will not. When they got done my hair was just matted together and orphan Annie orange. Tons of my hair broke off close to the scalp...I could feel and see the stubble. I could not even shampoo or get a pick and tons of conditioner through it due to the matted up texture. Well I had to have it all cut off short and dyed to get rid of the orange color. They still charged me over $100 for the perm and like an idiot I paid them.

Welcome both of you!!Hmm I think Amm has the bullie? I have had it happen to me and is the reason for my extensions. Every time I let a man in the salon touch my hair it all ends up on the floor!! And they get so bothered when I cut it myself now I have lots of loyal long haired client's because I do just dust the ends when that is all they want.

Hello Bridgette and bissy

Im sorry about your horrible hair cutting expireance.  I would have complained VERY loudly, and to the manager.  What a bitch.  I HATE it when someone else decides what you "really" need/want.  They are more then welcome to offer suggestions and advice, but in the end they need to go with what you decide.  Tricking you like that just tee's me off.

Hi,

My name is Bridgette and I am new here. I have never had hair extensions before. I have been lurking for the last two weeks digging through all the wonderful information that you guys share here. Well I never knew this subject could be so deep and complex…my head is still reeling with all the information. Before I found you guys, I was thinking…buy some hair, attach it to your head…simple…LOL

My interest in extensions is due to an incident that happened two weeks ago today & I have hardly left the house since because of my hair. Before the incident, my hair was mid to lower back in length, cut in long layers, shorter in front and longer in back. I stopped by a local shop just on a whim to get my bangs trimmed. I stressed repeatedly to the lady...."nothing off the length, bangs only". I even told her how some crazed-beautician had cut all my hair off at my shoulder 3 years ago, when I had stopped by only to get my bangs trimmed and that I did not want to go through that ordeal again...she assured me that she would only trim my bangs and would “NEVER do anyone that way.” As she was combing out my hair after shampooing, she stated that my length in the back was a little longer on one side than the other and asked if she could even it up just a little. I replied “No, that’s OK.” She kept insisting stating that she did not want me to think she had left the unevenness in length. I told her since she was only cutting my bangs she would not be to blame especially for something I did not notice. So finally I agreed to let her even up the back only a little. I had already stressed over and over to her that I liked my natural style and liked my length and wanted to keep both. Well she did the same thing to my hair as the other lady did three years ago...cutting all my hair off to just past my shoulders in the back, barely touching my shoulders in the front and cut some more in the front at chin length. She kept my back to the mirror...many distractions...kids running around the shop. I had no idea she had cut it all off until she was done. She just chopped it off almost even in the back with the shortest layer. I was furious when she finished and turned me toward the mirror. I said nothing, just paid and left heartbroken. Her final words to me were, “See, you are such a cute girl you just needed a hairstyle.” I am thinking lady I had a hairstyle before you ruined it and my former hairstyle was nothing great but at least it was not from “1980 something”…she cut my hair just like hers : (

Well I have finally stopped mourning myself to death over my hair… well almost stopped, gosh I miss it so badly…it was kinda dry and gnarly but I liked it that way.LOL My depression over the loss of my hair has propelled me into a buying frenzy. I have ordered human hair, different types of synthetic hair, shrinkies, a wand, liquid gold, etc.

I noticed looking through the older post that someone has a bullie…me too. Miss Bissy she just turned 5 years old…love bullies. Here is her pic.

Here is a pic of my hair from last March, so it had grown even more since this picture was taken. The pic is blurry and I am a mess in it...had not been up long...total bed-head but it was the most recent I could find...gosh I still miss my hair : (

I am open to any advice.

Thanks,

Bridgette

My hair is fairly dark brown with reddish tones, slight wave. I really do not do anything to it except 2 or 3 times a year I slap-on some Natural Instincts in Clove (medium ash brown) to help tone down the red, I think the red tones make it look kinda dry. I use a blow dryer but never any curling irons or such.
