lucky, Proclaim is excellent for shrinkie installs but you have to use
shrinkies that have the thin adhesive lining which are the ones I
offer. If you use the unlined ones, they'll slip right off. Usually LG is
used with shrinkie installs just for the added hold but it's not a must
for adhesive shrinkies.
So is the Proclaim (without nail glue) good for pre tipping for shrinkie installs, too? The LG drives me crazy and I'd rather use Proclaim if it holds up good enough for shrinkies. thanks!
If I may make a suggestion - Liquid Gold isn't a necessary glue for
pretipping. Sally's Beauty Supply sells a latex glue called Proclaim
Super Bond for about a buck. it's in a white bottle with red lettering.
It is SO easy to use and so less expensive than LG. It's easier to
work with and holds up extremely well. No nail glue would be
necessary over the top of Proclaim.
A good rule of thumb on strand size is never use a thinner strand of
your own hair to support a bigger strand of extension hair. :) Good
luck!
I think if you pre tip with LG and then cover with nail glue, you shouldn't have a problem with the glue getting into your hair. Especially since the extend tube method doesn't use any heat to apply.
In a perfect world, you want to take about equal sections of natural hair to extension hair in each section. Now that said, I have gotten away with talking a slightly smaller section of natural hair to extension hair, and it usually is ok. Just make sure your sections are super clean and you don't have any traveling hairs.
Both regular and hand tied Bohyme are on wefts, just different types of wefts . The regular, also know as machine wefted, is a bit bulkier at the weft top, while the hand tied has a micro thin weft top. Since you are just buying hair to pre tip it yourself, go with the regular machine weft, it's cheaper than the hand tied weft and it's the same quality hair.
first, id just like to say a thank you to all of you very knowledgable hair extenstion experts who take out the time to answer questions from novices, like myself.. this board has soo much information, its crazy!!
anyways, after reading and reading and reading through all of these posts.. i have decided to go through with the extentube method and im going to have my bf help me out with it.. i have really damaged hair from being a brunette who loves being bleach blonde and as a result have lost a lot of my hair due to breakage.. the extentube method and the weaving method seems the least damaging to me from what ive read soo i think im going to try out the extentubes..wish me luck!!
i know pretty much what im going to do.. im getting : (medium) extentubes, pliers to close them, pliers to open them, the threading needle, hair (bohyme 613) , Liquid Gold, and nail glue
im going to pretip them myself but i was wondering , for those of you who are familiar with extentubes-- im using Liquid gold and nail glue to pretip , will the glue from pretipping get into my hair over time after the extentube is closed ? i would just figure since the extentube is so tight onto the hair the pretip portion would smush and some of the glue would get into the hair and might damage my hair? basically im asking, what is the best method of pretipping to avoid damaging hair for the extentube method of extensions?
also.. how do i know how much of my own hair to put into the extentube(which is medium) and how big my corresponding pretips should be? in other words what is the ratio of my own hair to the extentsion hair? i dont want to put too little so that there is a lot of tension on my head and my own hair rips out when im brushing or something, BUT i also dont want it to be too much so that im using huge sections of my own hair... so basically... how do i figure that out?
and one more question.. sorry... there are so many! with the bohyme hair ive noticed there are two types, hand tied, and just regular.. is hand tied the one on the weft and is the other kind just loose hair with a tie around it?
hmm.. thats it for now.. thank u guys for taking out the time to help me out i really appreciate it! you guys are great!
