QuoteReplyTopic: Why do people steal pics for their sites??? Posted: September 21 2006 at 2:16pm
Hi thanks for your understanding. I will be updating my pictures very soon and I am sure you will see that my work is of a high standard. I checked out your web site and think your work is great and the site to. Wishing you all the best.
Fair enough Michelle but I would rather have no pictures than use someone elses, when I looked at your advert on ebay I thought you were that good I actually contemplated asking you to do my extensions to give my own hands a rest for once. I never even noticed that that wasn't your work so in my opinion it is very misleading. Obviously if your standard of work is as good as Nicolle's then there's no problem but if it isn't I'd be worried when clients come as that is what they will be expecting. Speaking honestly chick, a lot of people who see that you are advertising your extensions with someone else's work whether you say its theres or not won't come to you, I hope that doesn't sound mean but like you say we are all trying to make a living and I'm trying to help you there and give you a bit of advice.
Nicolle actually e-mailed me and clarified the point that she had given you permission but as she didn't post it on this board I didn't either out of respect to her. As you will learn unfortunately the extension business is a very competitive and bitchy business, but the good ones tend to stick together and watch each other's backs.
On this occasion you are totally in the right with what you've done and I apologise for bringing up the matter but as permission isn't normally given I jumped straight in and defended her work. I really should have read the small print. I certainly don't know why someone has sent you horrible e-mails that can't be repeated. I don't agree with that.
Hi I would like to inform that I had my pictures lost by someone who was supposed to be designing my website for me. I then decided to go through moonfruit and try to design my own web site. I searched for some pictures from a non uk site to not interfere with any one here. I asked nicole from www.hairangel.net if it would be ok for me to use her pictures as examples until I get new ones and she kindly agreed. Please e-mail her if any body wants clarification on this. I put copyright so Nicoles pictures do not get used by everyone. I have been receiving obscene e-mails from someone on this forum and the bad taste threatening and swearing in the content is to bad to repeat. I would just like to let everyone know I am a single mother just trying to make a living like everybody else. Many thanks Michelle
Same thing happened to me, Amanda, right down to punctuation and with the same words in quotes. I completely understand how you feel and you have every right to be angry. Is this person profiting off your copyright material? Email me the site when you get the chance & I have a suggestion to help thwart this.
I can't get my breath, someone has lifted text straight from my site yet again, I could understand it but its two huge word for word personal paragraphs!!!!!!! I'm fuming. AND its the same fricking person who stole some of my pictures to advertise her hair extension service on ebay. I can't believe the cheek of this person!x
I bought a bunch of stock photos for my site (models) and have copied pictures of supplies from websites that I have purchased from. Why? I am the worst photographer. I always get permission to copy photo's of their products that I am selling. I would never take pictures and claim them for my own work though.
Nothing wrong with that in my book. So long as the pictures are obtained legally or with the owners permission.. I used stock photos on Sherrie's site too.. We wanted nice pictures of hair for the site. No time or budget for models and photo shoots!!

Nope.. they didn't ask Laura.. The site was brought to my attention by a friend of mine who knows the site owner and also knew I was acquainted with Laura.. He knew the picture was taken without permission and wanted to let me know so I could tell Laura.. I wanted to let ladies here know in case anyone wanted to buy from this guy..
I already spoke to Laura.. I gave her the scoop on this guy.. I hope she contacts him and works it out..

Oh. I didn't even see that, monsterita. The page loaded in such a way that it didn't seem there was anything on the bottom. Wonder what the story is on that.
Site content is copyright, too. What's funny (in not a "haha" way) is seeing entire sections of content lifted from someone's site and put on another one and then the stealer puts a copyright symbol next to it. Now that takes some cajones.
If you check on the bottom of "The Hair Room" gallery, she says, "Some pictures are Property of www.HairAngel.net which are copyright." It doesn't say whether they're used with permission. I would assume they're not. I wouldn't go to an extensionist that posted someone else's work on their before/after page. *sheesh*
Does anyone have a way of letting Nichole on Hair angels know? She is
the Sweetest girl. I saw her work on her website and sent her an email
once because her work looked sooo good. She actually called me back and
we got to talk a bit. Super Sweet!!! I can try to find her email or
website if no one has already. It may be on the Hairextensionguide.com
website.
No, sorry guys, I probably should have been a bit clearer. I have no doubt that picture on the extension guide is authentic, its more like the person that's advertising on ebay has lifted it from there and is claiming it as her own xx
Man, that's a dirty dog right there. Lifting other's install pics is one of the lowest forms of bottomfeeding.
