(Yeah, I know I should be working.) I`m just not going to trust what I read online anymore. I read now that human + PPD = cancer hasn`t been proven and is still up in the air, nothing definitive yet, so who knows. Just don`t pay any attention to me:D

I just did some more research and it turns out I was confusing SLS for PPD. It turns out there are studies to show PPD does increase the risk for bladder cancer. ( I know this isn`t what you were talking about Azulestra, and I don`t want to come off cancer paranoid, I just wanted to clarify my above post:))

Have you considered salon brands like Redken Shades or Sebastian Cellophanes? Clairol for one makes Jazzings and Radiance ColorGloss found at Sally`s. Personally, the ColorGloss sounds interesting.

I`ve heard Robert Craig hair color is very gentle. He sells online. At Sally`s there is WaterWorks and Bigen hair color too. All three are powders you mix with water to form either a paste or mousse. They work best at darkening hair, though I read a poster`s response that you can lighten hair to an extent with Robert Craig`s. These are ammonia-free dyes and while they say they are peroxide-free they contain an ingredient called sodium perborate that turns into peroxide when mixed with water (or something like that, I`m not an expert, sorry :)) but it`s good to know in case you have a peroxide sensitivity. Also, they contain PPD which apparently most dyes do anyway, but the Bigen especially, so in case you have an allergy to PPD....then there`s also that whole cancer issue surrounding PPD, which some believe is true, others a myth.... Despite that these dyes are supposed to be very gentle to the hair at least. I kinda made this post sound scary, huh? lol! I dunno, I`m just throwing out what I know. I want to try Robert Craig`s color but I`m leaning more towards the Bigen right now because I can get that brand locally. Like you I want to darken my hair but not ruin its health.

No chemical is safe, all chemicals desstroy the cortex of the hair and every time that you use any chemical you will permanently destroy it would you like to know more of how to prevent damage using any chemical.

Geeezz, you don`t have to get all "wigged" out. Have you used Feia??? I have! I have used it several times and YES it does have "shimmering highlights" in it, but it has alot of them and if you pull up the Loreal website and you get into the Feria mini-site, it will say that it is more for a dramatic change, rather than someone who is looking for a more natural look. I was also told that by a Loreal consultant when i was looking to use it. But, to each thier own! If it worked for you....GREAT! It just didn`t sound like the person in question wanted something that BOLD....and she asked about a semi-permanent color anyways......NOT a permanent color. I was just trying to help. Was not "barking" at you! Have a good day!

um, excuse me, ok, so maybe i forgot that it was a PERMANENT haircolor.

"It also is not for someone who is looking for a natural look either." = FALSE.

Feria has natural colors. They have dyes that are for putting highlights in your hair, and they also have normal colors. Sorry, pal.

In the response to using feria, that is a PERMANENT haircolor. It also is not for someone who is looking for a natural look either. If you are looking for a good semi-permanent haircolor that you can but at the store, Loreal Castings is a good choice. It`s works with your own natural highlights and tones to rev-up your own natural hair color. It`s more gentle than permanent becasue it does not have any amonia in it. It will not lighten hair either. Since you already have color on your hair that is faded, you should chose a shade that matches the color as best as possible or a little darker. Always do a strand test when using any hair color product. Good Luck!
