Do your research if you choose to do a Salon install. Hair Extentions can run $700-$1500 depending on the type and name brand(or even higher too). When they tell you you are to comein every 2 weeks or so, so they can check on your extentions ask them if they just check them or move them- which they are sopose to do- so your hair doesnt get weighted down and snap off- I believe its called a "refill" they check the extentions and move some around etc. Otherwise they just want oyur money and dont care about the extentions.
I have learned the hard way- do listen to the women on here- they do know what they are talking about.

I am fairly new as well to hair extensions, and you definitely have a good start by searching on a forum for research and answers!
What type of extensions are you seeking? The clip-in type that you take out at night, or something more "permanent" that will last you weeks? Are you looking for a salon to install them, or doing it yourself?
My first start was with clip-ins that I made myself. I too, went to Sally's and bought some hair and supplies. Thru the great gift of the internet, I learned how to make them myself.
Take the time and read the posts under HE 101 with the FAQs. You will find plenty of others that are newbies like us, and plenty of experienced talent that will help with even the minor questions. There is so much more to it than just attaching hair. There is the method that you are interested in, the texture of your own hair to match extension hair. A lot of members on the forum seem to have their own favorites of hair and methods, and that is mainly due to it matching their own hair texture, and the experience with various install methods. I've learned that there isn't necessarily a "best method" nor "best hair", at the end of the day it's what method works for you and your lifestyle, and what hair texture matches your own.
The best advice I can give at this time, is to read posts on the forums, and look to see what possible method could work for you.
I have short blonde hair that takes forever to grow out. i would love to have long beautiful hair to about mid-back. I have never used extensions before and never thought of using them until recently. I have read a few articles and saw that the best kind would be the raw/virgin hair. I am in the St. Louis area and have no idea where to look for these types of things except for Sally's and no idea where to go to get 110% great outcome from the installation of the extensions. Anyone experienced out there that can help would be greatly appreciated. Is the virgin hair a good type? What is the best way to have these placed in? What do these range in price? I have a ton more questions but don't want this to be super long. Thanks for taking to time to help me out!!
