PONYTAIL IT OR CUT IT

I am a professional woman, accustomed to seeing all types of office personalities....what I have learned is that it doesn`t matter what your hair looks like. It is the total package that will exude intelligence, confidence, and authority. If you come in to work with your hair very neat, in a ponytail - but you are wearing jeans and a polo, you will give off a different impression than you would if you walked in there wearing a very well tailored suit with nicely polished shoes. Make sure that you dress for success - your hair, if put up neatly - will take a backseat. You will also find you feel more confident if it is not drawing attention.
I have had long hair at work and found that I am able to bring out whatever response I want from people depending on how I wear my hair. i always make sure to wear it up whan meeting with older men and women....but wear it down whan meeting with younger men. I am an architect, so it is important that i look responsible, intelligent and reliable - how could you trust someone with millions of dollars of your comapny`s money otherwise?


Good luck and remember - this is all about being true to yourself and what you want to do with your hair. Don`t cut it for anyone else but you.

I`ll have to take a little different view than what the other posters have said. What type of "office" is this? In some, a ponytail or longer hair, would be acceptable - others would not. How did you have your hair for the interview? Are you going to be responsible for others? How would they view you? first impressions are important. From your post it sounded like you were thinking of this before the job - why - maybe you were heading to cutting it anyway and just need an excuse. Do you want to continue going up the ladder? Would your hair hinder you?
Well, I gave you some things to think about (sorry, the only true answer must come from you) if you haven`t thought about them already.

Since you already got the job, you must have went
in for an interview, right? Didn`t they notice your hair at that time? Since it is an office admin. job they hired you for your office skills not your hair length. I`m sure if they had a problem with it at the interview, they would/should have said something.
As far as a ponytail goes, just try to keep it neat looking. If you are comfortable with a ponytail, then go for it.
