This is weird, I've talked to show many people whose hairdresser does this. Do they just not know what they're doing? And hairdressers that over bleach hair past pale yellow til it's white and fried. How could they not know?

putting a lightner as a in a bleach on the length isn't right. It'll make your ends soft and mushy and break, she should only be applying it to regrowth and applying color to ends.

Then your hairdresser is doing it wrong. Ask her if you can just get the roots bleached and not the length. Maybe she's under the impression you want to go lighter.

when I was going to get my roots done, I wasn't tyring to go lighter... but she would still put the bleach on practically the whole length of already bleached portions...
and a chemical haircut sounds EXACTLY like the problem I've had... my hair at the crown (the area that gets bleached the most) only grows to about my shoulders.. despite the fact I havent cut it in like 2 years..
and to your second question- I'm going to do foils- not the whole head.. I dont want to go tooo blonde..

Hi there. I just have one question: when your stylist was putting bleach on the entire length of the hair, where you trying to go blonder at that visit?
I went blonde through highlights from my dyed dark brown hair, and because my hair was so dark (and the artifical dye was so hard to get out) My whole head highlights had to be dyed quite a few times.
However, if you are soley getting your roots touched up (and are happy with your colour) than bleach should ONLY be applied to the roots, with no overlapping onto previously bleached hair. This over processing causes breakage and could lead to a "chemical haircut".
So in answer to your question, yes, root touch up in blonde hair the bleach should only be on the roots, not the length of the hair.
How are you planning on going lighter? Foils or whole head?
Good luck with it. <3

Hi everyone—Just looking for some advice on my current hair situation..
Here’s my breakdown: naturally: I have dark brown hair, currently: I have a light brown color (that was achieved through a mixture of blonde highlights via bleach and medium brown low lights via color) what I want: a medium blonde..
My question however, is one I’m making solely out of fear- that is of never having my hair grow because of all the breakage going blonde in the past has caused me.
But, more specifically my question is in regards to my hair colorist… In order to get dark brown hair blonde is obviously no small feat.. The practice of my stylist I am questioning is in regards to the method in which she treats my roots and as to whether that may be the reason why my hair never grows…
When coloring the roots of an individual who has gone blonde (but like in my case has very dark roots)--- are the roots SOLELY bleached? My stylist takes pieces of my hair and puts bleach not only on the root portion but also on the portion that has already been bleached.. therefore, If im getting my roots done every six weeks or so, there are parts of my hair getting bleached 3 or so times over(hence causing the damage that I feel never allows my hair to grow past my shoulders).. Is this normal?
What is the normal process in which brunettes that can only achieve blonde through bleach, attack the issue of roots keeping the health of their hair in mind?
I'd love to hear what other methods brunettes gone blonde (and their colorists) are using...
